Loving, affectionate parents give stern warnings at times. God the Father is no different. He warns of the danger of drifting from Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit inside of a Christian, he guarantees that the warning is effective and persuasive. A Christian cannot lose his or her salvation. A person who rejects Jesus or leaves the faith can certainly come back to him and find forgiveness. But the Christian should cling to Christ at every crossroads.
