Hospital Records are extremely proud to present ‘Smile & Wave’, the second studio album from drum & bass’ friendliest MC, Inja. With the biggest smile on his face, the lyricist, vocalist, poet, artist and storyteller delivers 16 tracks, seamlessly weaved together through Inja’s infectiously feel-good flow and sincere wordsmithery. The entire album was produced by Whiney, further cementing their relationship as one of the most untestable dance music pairings. Also featuring Charlotte Haining, Eva Lazarus, DRS, Fox, Cleveland Watkiss, Singing Fats, and DJ Marky.

Album title track ‘Smile & Wave’ is the musical embodiment of Inja’s playful demeanour. Known for being the world’s smiliest artist, Inja wrote and recorded this feel-good bouncer alongside his daughter who is “pretty much the first person to hear anything” he’s up to musically. Expect a rude bassline and infectious wordplay.

Teaming up with superstar singer-songwriter Charlotte Haining, ‘Reach Out’ sees two of the most distinct voices in dance music come together over a bittersweet wobbler written about times when you feel “so out of place, out of reach” in the words of Inja. Having worked alongside an impressive array of electronic artists including Hybrid Minds, Sub Focus, My Nu Leng and Friction, Charlotte’s delicately powerful hooks are the perfect counterpart to Inja’s heartfelt flows.

Luscious pads and dubbed out pianos and guitars set the scene on ‘Baby Angel’ featuring the worldwide wave-maker Eva Lazarus who returns to Hospital Records for the first time since featuring on Etherwood’s ‘Light My Way Home’ back in 2015. Having worked alongside staple figures including Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Zed Bias and Gentlemen’s Dub Club, Eva infuses her reggae, hip-hop and jungle flavours alongside Inja’s humbling storytellings.

Inja’s “personal favourite to perform live as it smashes every and any system”, ‘Explode’, is a 140BPM anthem featuring flows that will ignite any room and a killer instrumental that will have you bobbing no questions asked. Proving himself to be a versatile and skillful microphone controller, Inja’s ability to shell down any tempo is ever more apparent on this upfront banger.

Three legendary MCs unite on ‘Hands, Lights, Flames, Phones’ where Inja joins forces with two of Manchester’s very finest - DRS and Fox. Sharp lyricism is rife as the triple threat of three titan wordsmiths link up, seeing energetic bars bouncing off each other over a cold-cut drum & bass roller. This is a combination not to be tested.

Inja has established himself as a pinnacle figure within the realms of drum & bass. Loved for his ability to express his thoughts into honest, relatable lyrics in ‘She Just Wanna Dance’, a spoken word piece for Amnesty International that was a viral online hit in 2017, and more recently switching it up to ‘We Just Wanna Dance’ during the UK lockdown, expressing his desire to be reconnected with ravers again. It’s 2018 and judging by the surge of interest worldwide, it could also be the year of Jungle music. Over in Bristol at Born On Road headquarters the final touches have been put to the long awaited biopic LP from Aries entitled Jungle Style. For an artist who’s spent 20+ years on the road, released 100+ tracks, collaborated with every soundman and his dog and pushed the Jungle sound to it’s absolute limits, this album is something of a lifelong ambition - it’s the summing up of his journey.

If somehow you don’t know Aries and the Jungle scene, he honed his self-taught skills whilst living in Birmingham, London and Bristol. His first major release was Herb Smoke in 2006 which is sat comfortably on 3,000,000 Youtube views at time of press - something of an anomaly for Jungle; he’s a key figure in his collective’s - Chopstick Dubplate, Born On Road and Roots Recordings; he holds the 2016 We Love Jungle Award for Best DJ; he’s seen releases on prestigious Jungle labels Congo Natty, Dread and V Recordings; he DJs around the world so much that he has a tune called Worldwide Traveller with Top Cat and Mr Williamz celebrating their humble attitude for the continued use of ropey budget airline RyanAir. His career has been one of continued hard work and dedication to the sound which has paid off in respect from his peers and he now also commands a legion of dedicated followers that show support at his shows and through collecting the music he makes.

His LP Jungle Style travels across the spectrum of the Aries sound and - true to form - features many of his nearest and dearest friends. From one angle it's a who’s who of the A-list Jungle scene that all wanted to come and pay homage to the Aries legacy by being part of the project, and from the other side it was most definitely directed by Aries himself for it’s signature sound. The album was written, recorded and produced across 8 studios in Birmingham, Slovenia, Paris, London and Jamaica then finished off in Bristol, and that isn’t including where some tracks were part-produced with friends from other far corners of the world. It’s difficult to pick out the highlights as the diversity really does shine through which means there is something for everyone so long as you like it rough, tough and dangerous!

FOGATA SOUNDS is a french label, involved in production and composition of high powa remix and original riddims mixing Reggae/ Dub versions with hot Dubstep and Electronic sounds and trix joining the «keep dub into dubstep» movement, with a concept called: 
THE RUB A DUBSTEP.

History:

The label FOGATA SOUNDS came to light while dark forces and vicious virus were contaminating permanently the french music sphere. Between sadomasochist rituals learned at schools of submission (american idol and other reality-shit…) and the format’s dictature based on an uncultural and faceless concept of masses consuming.
Each camp defending his own side against the other (Dub v/s Ragga, Rap v/s Rock, Roots v/s Electro, Classical v/s Cyber !), 
FOGATA SOUNDS never had other purpose than being a vinylistic entreprise of cultural resistance !

Founded by two long time brothers:

Krak in Dub, former of the  MAS I MAS crew (Jungle activists veteran from Paris). Since the 90’s he has released more than 40 records and remix for his own labels or others, and played all over the world. Today he’s involved with people worldwide in various junggle remix or more recently in Rub a dubstep style with FOGATA.

Hug HO, starts in the 80’s as one of the first Dubber in France with his band Ausweis & Puppa Leslie (RIP), then he was at the origine or involved in several dub experiences like Gom Jabbar (mixed by Mad Professor), the militant Dub band International S.P.A.R.T.A.K.., the Dub Manifest of the basque Fermin Muguruza or Caballo Loco in Santiago de Chile. Today he’s associated with Krak in Dub in an experimental dub creation process. 

Nino joined the crew in 2012 as DJ. Founder of Large Up sound station, reggae radio show broadcasted on FM and Live streaming every sunday since 2005. He teamed up with Hugo and Krak in Dub to bring in DJ support and all kinds of geeky skills.

Mandidextrous has become a staple name in the underground dance music industry for many years now here in the UK, Europe and further afield.
 
Pioneering fresh new genres such as Jungletek , Raggatek and Speedbass Mandi has become a true influencer with a huge fan base and a whole plethora of headline gigs, Vinyl releases, Digital releases, Merchandise and events which has lead them to some amazing achievements in their time.

Since being signed to the Electrobooking agency based in Leipzig Germany in 2013, Mandi has been one of the only if not the only Transgender artist touring the uk and internationally on the Hardtek scene.  
In 2019 Mandi became the first ever Transgender artist to write all of the closing ceremony tracks for internationally renowned festival Boomtown Fair comprising of two slamming D&B tracks and two Electric Techno tracks played over the two main dance arena’s the Relic and Nucleus to more than 50’000 people. Since then they have also landed a spot in a mentorship scheme with EQ50 & Ram Records in order to put their mark on the D&B scene where it all started for Mandi as a DJ circa 1998, 
 
Crossing the boundaries in Music as well as gender Mandi has been very open and public about their exploration of Gender rolls having transitioned from Male to Female and more recently has come out as Non Binary A sexual pronouns Them/Thier. 

Mandi’s music is diverse, a combination of high energy 4X4 DNB/Jungle known as Jungletek of which they have been pioneering for a number of years alongside many members of Amen4Tekno Records a label Mandi started circa 2011. 
Also specialising in Raggatek and more recently another brand new genre Speedbass which takes inspiration from Both D&B and Basshouse/Bassline but keeping things 4x4 in true Mandi style. 

2021 will see Mandi focusing more on their D&B productions as well as bigger shows and even bigger accomplishments. 

Mandi’s shows are often talked about as high energy from start to finish sending venues and arenas to maximum capacity in minutes having filled 4000 to 5000 capacity festival arena’s and clubs where ever she goes  

A true innovator , A true spirit born from a great British institution......

Aries Bio :

Reggae and Jungle are genres of music with strong roots in the UK and Aries has immersed himself in both cultures which has heavily influenced his whole ethos to production and DJing. It is this integrity and dedication to the scene which has earned him respect amongst his peers meaning he now flies the flag internationally for modern day sound-system culture.

Aries’ sound combines vintage Jungle sensibilities with traditional Reggae music polished off with modern day production techniques. The finished product is his own Dubwise strain of the UK’s one true homegrown genre, Jungle.

He broke through to the A-list of the Jungle world after releasing music on legendary record labels: Congo Natty, Dread and V Recordings, plus Aries has recorded with a whole world of vocal talent that does by no means stop at Top Cat, David Boomah, Solo Banton, Nanci &amp; Phoebe, Demolition Man, Jah Mason and Johnny Osbourne. His DJing is in demand across the globe having played high profile DJ sets in most major countries.

Back in 1990, Aries launched himself onto Pirate Radio in his hometown of Birmingham where Reggae and underground Dance music were dominating the airwaves. This is where he learned his craft as a DJ. He then promoted himself to throwing parties and finally graduated to the recording studio where he has been creating music ever since.

Aries’ projects vary from his solo exports to collaborations with other producers from Gold Dubs and Kelvin 373 to the Chopstick Dubplate crew, which is the world’s first international Reggae Jungle sound crew which is fronted by himself, Jacky Murda and Tuffist. Recently, he has also been touching on other projects from Hip Hop to Dubstep which all tell an ode of his roots.

Within the reputedly closed doors of the Jungle Drum &amp; Bass world, true support is carried by your peers and it is they who validate your career. Aries has been met with open arms by figureheads of the scene. In the mainstream, Aries receives radio play from BBC’s Toddla T, Zane Lowe, Rob Da Bank and DJ Hype plus his Youtube views reach the millions. This is all from one of the most humble people you are likely to meet in the music business.

It is undoubtedly true that Aries will continue his ongoing plight to serve the world true grassroots Dubwise Jungle dubplates. Whether it be releasing his own music, collaborating on projects or running record labels, Aries will be pushing the sound that he loves.

DJ & Producer Chris Munky (Snareophobe) started touring in 1999 in San Francisco & has since toured Canada, the USA, Asia, India, Europe, Australia & the UK; Bombay to Vancouver, ski slopes to Glastonbury, beach festivals to aircraft hangars, both as support and headline act, with a blend of original music, mashups & classic tracks. Soul-laced music selections come from a vast collection of both vinyl & digital archives. DJ sets journey through a range of tempos; spanning jungle, hip hop, garage, breakbeats & dubwise music.

Hosting & dropping lyrics on his own sets, Chris has also been joined on stage by Chali 2na (Jurassic 5), Eva Lazarus, Afrika Baby Bam (Jungle Brothers), Fernquest & Dub Fx.

The Snareophobe LP, made in collaboration with Pete Fibre, dropped on Gravitas Records in July 2013 and includes a wide range of electronic music & featured vocalists.
