Dissolution

48kHz 32bit Demos comparing the H9000 Phoenix Head Algorithm with the Cransesong Phoenix 2 Plugin.  All examples follow the format Dry -> H9000 Phoenix Head -> Phoenix 2.  The track title indicates the settings.  All samples are made with the process knob set to 100% with no input or output gain adjustment. The process and brightness algorithms used are listed in the sample titles. All samples for the H9000 were recorded digitally over ADAT via an RME UFX3 into Ableton Live 12.  The plugin versions were exported from Ableton Live 12.

All tracks can be downloaded as full resolution .wav files to test on your own monitors.

The only post processing was normalization to peak limit of 0dB so that the levels are as close as possible for comparison.

01 - Number 2 Sun - City of Light Tight Bass

Da Dune - Sand Worm (59BPM) is a short dark ambient composition inspired by Dune OST for the  Hans Zimmer Birthday Challenge on Roli Discord. 🎻

I had a lot of fun creating this with my synthesizers, microphones and some pretty deep sound design. 🥰

🎛️ Setup: - Playtronica Orbita MIDI sequencer plays the piano patch designed on my Minilogue XD.
I’ve then added various layers with my Microfreak (sub pad) and VSTs like Equator 2 and Cypher 2 controlled by Roli Lumi Keys and Lightpad Blocks. The wind and sand noises are also played on a Lightpad triggering the Minilogue XD, plus a Lazer controller controlling the Cutoff Filter. I’used whispers from a sample pack with Arturia EFX Fragments and designed all the other FX by myself with a diddley bow, a contact mic and a magnetic mic from Syro Instruments, and a fidget spinner! 🌀 I’ve also used hardware and software effects for sound design, mixing and mastering, especially the Eventide H9 Max and Elektron Analog Drive and Analog Heat +FX. CME H4MIDI-WC again for MIDI routing and filtering. Et voilà! 😁

Many reflect the art of synthesis, resampling and effects trickery which take the listener thru a journey of sound. I sing and play my own songs and as a seasoned musician, I have performed regularly over time in bands, in a trio and as part of a duo. I have also performed as a solo artist. These days I am content to hear my songs on Deepstuff Radio, and on a number of other radio stations here and abroad. But that performing bug never goes away!!

When I'm not playing video games, I might actually be found working on some production. I'm really into an all hardware approach to music making these days and loving various synths, sequencers, and drum machines. I would even dare to say music making has surpassed gaming and is now my main pastime! While still trying to pinpoint my musical "sound", I definitely find myself incorporating my love for Deep House from my many years spent as a DJ but I'm not afraid to just let the music guide me in the moment. You can likely expect House, Techno, Electronica, Experimental, Synthwave, and basically anything synth-focused. Thanks for listening!

My first encounter with ambient music was a happy accident in 2001. At the time, I was working for a company that managed the SNEP catalog: the French National Union of Photographic Publishers. We received entire boxes of new music on CD from most of the country's record labels. One of my colleagues was a music fanatic and had a keen ear for finding interesting works. One day, he put on Recoloured - The Remix Album by Nils Petter Molvaer.
I was expecting electro-jazz, but one track on the album really touched me. I'd never heard music like it before: "Kakonita" by Deathprod Mix, aka Helge Sten, a Norwegian musician. That's how I discovered ambient music.

Alongside my musicology studies at the University of Paris 8
I played bass and guitar in small clubs and cafes in the Paris région. Interested in ambient for a long time, I started to really compose it since 2023
in my small home studio.
My next goal is to be able to practice and create ambient in the street, to do featuring and improvise;
