A Dream Haunting – Dean R. Chandler

Whilst I’m waiting for my official concept album A Human Odyssey (due January 2027) to be fully produced, here’s a preview of one of its featured tracks — though this version is an AI interpretation.

I actually wrote A Dream Haunting about ten years ago — strangely enough, while taking a shower. Inspiration has a habit of catching me off guard like that. My upcoming album version will be closer to the original demo I recorded back then, featuring my own vocals rather than AI ones.

The song itself is about a man who encounters an other-dimensional being — a radiant, ethereal entity who reaches out to him across the veil. She offers him visions of his past lives and the interconnectedness of all his experiences — love, pain, joy, and sorrow. Through her guidance, he begins to understand the deeper meaning of existence — that our lives are echoes of the same eternal soul, learning and evolving through time.

This AI version captures the dreamlike, otherworldly atmosphere of that encounter — a haunting reflection on what it means to awaken to the truth beyond the human veil.

VANDANA is an artist who thrives in contradiction - shapeshifting between the seductive and the sinister, the intimate and the maximalist, she has built a world where beauty and menace intertwine.

My Focus:

I say: “I’ll master them all.”

My writing isn't meant to be confined to one playlist category. Every moment is a mood, every lyric is a poem, and every song tells a story. I refuse to limit myself. Writing music across genres isn’t just a skill—it’s my passion. I have no desire to change who I am to meet industry expectations.

Where Am I Today?
I can write in any genre, any language, and on any topic. I have access to any instrument and can create with any vocal style—male or female. But at my core, I am a writer, not an entertainer.
I feel timid stepping in front of a microphone—exposing myself vocally is still a challenge. There are skills to master and fears to overcome before I record my own voice or perform live. But I am comfortable behind the DJ decks.

Where Am I Going?
As I navigate my place in the music industry, my goal is to split my music into three primary genres and sign with labels that align with each sound:

I know social media is necessary, but it’s far outside my comfort zone. Sharing the creative process, the "sauce" behind the songs, feels vulnerable. But I also know that if I want my music to be heard, I need to open that door—even if it’s uncomfortable.

This is my journey. Let’s see where it leads.

I’m Dean R. Chandler — a London based songwriter, recording artist, and storyteller. My music is rooted in a lifelong search for meaning, weaving together themes of love, loss, faith, alien contact, and humanity’s future.

My upcoming double concept album Human Odyssey (set for release in January 2027) is the culmination of decades of writing and reflection. It’s a narrative journey that begins with a search for God and ends with an encounter with extraterrestrial intelligence — exploring not only what it means to be human, but also where we might be heading as a species. Musically, it draws inspiration from the epic storytelling of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds, the synth-driven edge of Gary Numan, and the emotional depth of artists like Tori Amos and Chris de Burgh.

I previously released Time Machine – Reflecting Shattered Dreams (2014) and continue to revisit my archive of songs written across 35 years, reimagining them with today’s tools and sounds. Some pieces remain intimate and acoustic, while others expand into dark rock, industrial, or orchestral landscapes — but all are connected by a focus on emotional honesty and cinematic storytelling.

Beyond music, I’m fascinated by the intersection of creativity and technology. I’ve been experimenting with AI-driven composition and production to bring old demos to life and to spark entirely new works. For me, these tools are not replacements for human artistry but extensions of it — ways of unlocking stories and emotions that otherwise might have remained hidden.

At its heart, my work is about connection: to the past, to the future, and to the unseen mysteries of existence. Music, for me, isn’t just entertainment — it’s a chronicle of transformation, a conversation between spirit, science, and sound.
