When we started our journey about two years ago, it was clear to all of us at laminim that our main focus would always be the people walking alongside us. Both the audience and the artists have shaped us, and continue to shape us, into a better version of ourselves every day.

Most importantly, over the past years we’ve learned that everything has an end, but every beginning depends solely on ourselves. We’ve learned to laugh, to cry, and to look back with gratitude for all the memories and moments we’ve shared with amazing people.

One of the most important milestones for us was definitely Cata joining us with Sky Bridge, our first-ever EP released on laminim. We will always be deeply grateful and hold great respect for the support and trust he showed us at the very beginning of our journey. He has been, and will always be, an important member of our family.

That being said, Cata is officially joining us again for his second release: Foreign Language, a three-track EP (Claro, The Game, Songwriter) that we believe best captures the essence of our vision, “simple music that moves the body and the spirit”.

Claro’s hypnotic sequence and vocals come together to create a powerful minimal arrangement that represents the solid foundation of Cata’s sound, something he has been carefully shaping for years.

With The Game, the mood shifts: a deep melodic bass and tight percussion symmetrically define the track’s direction, while the vocals follow and drive the rhythm. They effortlessly embed themselves into the listener’s ear and soul, making it a piece you’ll want to return to again and again.

Finally, Songwriter is the perfect way to describe Cata, this is who he truly is and what he does best. Guided by instinct and inspired by his background as a music producer, he brings together warming vocals and a raw minimal atmosphere infused with repetitive tribal influences that carry the groove forward.

Cata - The Game

"Night Market" is an exploration of the rich instrumental textures and unique sonic signatures of Thailand and Southeast Asia. This piece was brought to life through the Southeast Asian instrument library "Sangara" by Orchestral Tools, which allowed for a deep dive into the region's traditional sounds. The composition opens with quasi-improvised rhythmic strikes of the pong lang bamboo xylophone before the main melody transitions to the khong wong and ranat thum—metallophones typically found in traditional Thai piphat ensembles. These are bolstered by the resonant sounds of the Javanese gender and saron from the gamelan tradition.

The only Western instrument featured is an arpeggiated classical guitar, though it is doubled with a chakhe (Thai fretted zither) to introduce a subtle buzzing quality to the pitches. Momentum is driven throughout the work by the klong that drums, eventually building toward a climax marked by sliding violas and shimmering bamboo angklungs. The piece finally rounds off with the delicate, trembling vibrato of the bowed saw sam sai and the Thai wote pan-flute. Khim dulcimers sustain tremolos throughout, sprinkling just a touch of brightness to their doubled violas.

It was an immense joy to write this piece, and I certainly didn’t hold back when it came to emphasizing the higher frequencies. Whether in the orchestration itself or the final master, I’ve discovered a particular taste for the 4kHz range on the frequency spectrum, and I leaned into that preference to give the piece its bright, vivid energy.
