Sickness Takes Me

MFA offers an extensive and progressive journey in which each of the emotions involved has the necessary time to develop and give way to the successive ones. In this way, the different elements find their place to impregnate the space with an air of nostalgia and intimacy and pave the way and the development of the journey towards the irruption of other feelings such as indignation, fragility or empathy.

The song explores the sorrow caused by observing a heartbreaking scene from the shelter of a shadow. On one side, an old man struggles between screams and delirium during his last hours of life. Beside him, an old woman stands solemnly by a dim light as she watches over her husband's journey to the next world. She is suffering, but seems impassive, without uttering a word or producing a gesture.

Thus, over an amalgam of alternative rock and trip hop elements, the vocal interplay suggests the details of the scene in a process of accumulation of emotions that explodes at the end of the journey. ‘The narration aims to transmit the fear that comes from knowing that everything is about to come to an end’, says the artist from Murcia.

MFA ofrece un recorrido extenso y progresivo en la que cada una de las emociones implicadas dispone del tiempo necesario para desarrollarse y dar paso a las sucesivas. De esta manera, los diversos elementos encuentran su lugar para impregnar el espacio con aires de nostalgia e intimidad y pavimentar la marcha y el desarrollo de la travesía hacia la irrupción de otros sentimientos como la indignación, la fragilidad o la empatía.

La canción explora el pesar que causa observar una escena desgarradora desde el cobijo de una sombra. Por un lado, un anciano se debate entre alaridos y delirios durante sus últimas horas de vida. A su lado, una anciana junto a una luz tenue permanece solemne mientras tutela el viaje de su esposo hacia el otro mundo. Está sufriendo, pero parece impasible, sin emitir una sola palabra ni producir gesto alguno.

Es así como, sobre una amalgama formada con elementos propios del rock alternativo y el trip hop, los juegos de voces sugieren los detalles de dicha escena en un proceso de acumulación de emociones que acaba por estallar al final de la travesía. “La narración pretende transmitir el temor que provoca saber que todo está a punto de acabarse”, precisa el artista murciano.

“Domino” takes a sober, laconic look at life: chasing after happiness, stumbling, losing, moving on. The lyrics circle around images of dominoes, dice, and chance – life as a great game, fragile and unpredictable. Short, sharp lines like flashes of light: sometimes bitter, sometimes comforting, always true.

"Incertidumbre" is a song I wrote in a moment of deep doubt. The lyrics say exactly what I felt: the more I knew, the more questions I had. It’s not a song with answers. It’s more like admitting out loud that I don’t know.

It talks about feeling broken inside even when everything looks fine on the outside. About not knowing if you’ll ever be happy, but still leaving a bit of space to believe you might be.

The samurai and shogun metaphor reflects how we sometimes act like we’re in control, when deep down we know we’re not. And swimming in a world of fantasy isn’t a choice — it’s just how it feels inside.

I didn’t try to make it pretty. I just said it the way it came out. And I still feel that way.

Federico Gerhardt is a versatile Argentine musician who moves effortlessly between blues, pop, and funk.

As a singer, harmonica player, and guitarist, he has made the cigar box guitar one of his trademarks, blending tradition with experimentation in every performance.

His music ranges from the raw authenticity of blues to the freshness of contemporary sounds, always carried by honest lyrics and deep emotional presence.

Beyond being a songwriter, Federico is also a luthier, crafting and playing his own instruments, which gives his work a unique and handcrafted identity.

Eric Dahl is a songwriter with ties to the state of Washington on both sides of the Cascade mountains. He was born in Colville in the northeastern corner of the state. His father was a teacher from Spokane who soon moved with his family to western Washington. Dahl’s mother is a native of Leavenworth with relatives in the Wenatchee Valley. Eric grew up in Kent and south Seattle, but thanks to his maternal grandfather and uncles, he worked in the Leavenworth fruit orchards and hiked from an early age in the Cascade Mountains to the high lakes. Later he studied and published poetry at Whitman College in Walla Walla, the University of Washington in Seattle, and at Oxford University where he was awarded the Isis Poetry Prize.

"Pictureplane"(Travis Egedy), is a popular artist known for making his come up in the electronic music scene, DIY Venues, also popular for hanging around artists like "Grimes" and "Crystal Castles" in the early come up days of these artist, he is also the one who came up with the word "Witch House" which is a playful word on "House" music, though "Witch House" is now a popular music genre that is enjoyed by many.

"Crystal Castles" are actually one of the very first, if not the first electronic music duo to actually invent "Witch House" music, as you can hear dark beats and sorrow drawn out voices off of some of their early (demo songs/ Demo Album) dating back from "2007" and before that, which is crazy to think since during that time "Witch House" did not have a name for itself yet.

Songwriting has been a lifelong passion for me, dating back to elementary school when I first began crafting stories, poems, and eventually lyrics. As a former drummer in various bands, I always relied on others to bring my words to life musically. However, after a long hiatus from drumming, I decided to take the leap and learn to compose music to accompany my lyrics. Through classes and dedication, I've embarked on a new journey, breathing fresh life into old lyrics and penning new ones. You'll find a mix of older and newer works here. Especially for some of the lyrics. 

Music has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is being completely entranced by 'The Little Drummer Boy' as a very young child. There was something about the rhythm and the melody that just captivated me. I must have played it a thousand times, wearing the record out, and from that moment on, I was hooked. I knew I wanted to be a drummer and to create that magic for others. 

But I was too young then, and of course, I couldn't afford a drum set just yet. So, I turned to writing as a way to express myself. As I mentioned above, I started with stories, then poems, and eventually, lyrics. I found that writing was not only a way to tap into my creativity, but also a way to process my emotions and experiences. 

As I grew older, my love for music only deepened. I realized that music has this incredible power to transport us to different times and places, to evoke emotions and memories that we thought were long forgotten. It's a universal language that can bring people together like nothing else can. 

For me, writing lyrics is a cathartic experience. It's a way for me to tap into my emotions, to process the world around me, and to create something that I hope will resonate with others. And when I hear my words come to life in a song, it's truly magical. It's a feeling that never gets old, and it's what keeps me coming back to music time and time again. 

I love many genres of music and artists of many genres. And if you listen to some of my songs, you will find that I like to make songs of different genres as well as mix different genres into each song. One of my all-time favorite bands is Evanescence, and I have made a lot of songs where I have tried my best to emulate that sound. 

Now, I have recently started experimenting with new sounds. I never heard of glitch beats before I took music classes, and now I'm fascinated with the sound, so I have been experimenting with glitch beats recently.
