 “마녀의 숲”은 오케스트라의 생동감과 리드미컬한 전개가 어우러진, 한 편의 동화 같은 보컬 곡이다. 장조와 단조의 대조적인 분위기 속에서, 곡은 마녀가 열어가는 비밀스러운 파티의 장 면들을 그려낸다. 발랄한 장조의 벌스와 프리코러스를 지나, 단조로 전환된 코러스는 청자를 마녀의 숲속으로 초대하여 환상적이고 몽환적인 무드를 제공한다. 하지만 누구도 도착하지 않 는 그 숲의 파티는, 기묘한 쓸쓸함 속에서 여운을 남긴다.
