It's been a while, hasn't it? This week's prompt was to adapt something of a different medium than the previous, so I chose to be inspired by Dune (the book)! I wanted to highlight something which was an element of the book - and not other adaptations. I originally wanted to adapt my favourite scene from the book: the dinner. However, this proved to be a much more challenging task than expected, so, with 2 and a half writing days remaining to me, I scrapped all of that, and wrote this. In the book, there are two important fight scenes about halfway through. One features Paul and the other introduces Feyd-Rautha. They are positioned immediately one after the other, begging the reader to compare and contrast the two characters. A duet felt only natural to me. I am genuinely proud of the lyrics to the choruses especially. Special thanks to Phoenix for voicing Paul. He is a busy man, but it was well worth getting him in.
If you were worried that I'd fallen tragically behind schedule, worry not. I have just completed writing Song 10, ending Autumn. Production has been a bit slower as Sarah and I are both very busy and also keep getting sick. Rest assured, more songs are coming soon! Also I'm going to start to do some social media thingys.

The song is a duet between Lye Lychen and The Ravening Beast: Lye is busy justifying to himself (or rehearsing justifying to others) his choice to keep Aterika'Kaal, the cursed spider/rose god, while ignoring the growing danger of the Ravening Beast haunting and hunting him. I tried to stick to the musical palette that Jack DeQuidt established for Sangfielle: Phyrigian mode, a small string ensemble, a little bit of clarinet, hand claps and finger snaps with lots of reverb, and improvised shakers and jingly percussion.
