I learned this from an old man in County Cork in the 1990s. His name was Jamesy Kingston, and he survived on duck eggs and instant coffee, which I also consumed when camping on his land to learn  his original take on fiddling and his tunes. He said all tunes originally had words to them, and this is an example. I tried to sing and fiddle as much as possible the way I heard it from him. He also liked to use a lower string as a drone as he played, creating more volume, because he often played alone for house dances. As he never had a car and other players didn't either, the distances were often too great to have more than one musician except on special occasions involving a wider area. Ireland's population, after all, never recovered from the Famine.

Fiddling in Irish sessions and contradances was a big part of my growing up in New Hampshire. I then lived in County Clare, Ireland for years and learned from the old players, also traveling around Ireland gathering tunes, in the 1990s. I play in bands in Flagstaff and also solo shows which involve improvisation and fusion. In addition to fiddle, I play mandolin, Irish whistle, and I sing.

Dudley Anderson was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. After graduating from Bible College in 1990, God opened the way for Dudley to branch out into Christian radio. As a musician and worship leader he developed a heart for Christian music, which became the main thrust of his radio work in South Africa. 

 In 1996 God called Dudley and his family to the United Kingdom where he now works as a radio programme producer and presenter. Dudley also writes a FREE weekly e-mail devotional called, GodTracker, available at surereality.net

Dudley Anderson is married to Karen-Leigh and has two adult children, Kerryn and Ryan.

I’ve been creating music for the past six years, learning and evolving with each track.
My instrumentals are deeply personal—each one shaped by emotion and often named after the feeling that inspired it.

I try to sculpt sounds and melodies in a way that expresses what words sometimes can’t—like trying to describe a color with language. Everyone hears and feels differently, and that’s part of the beauty.
