“Happy Xmas,” like “Imagine,” is one of those John Lennon justice songs that got seered into my psyche as a little kid in the ‘80s from my mom’s easy-listening radio. Without John’s naming what was wrong with the world in his songs, I don’t know if I would have studied philosophy or become a journalist or a songwriter or created anything intended to make the world a little kinder. For better or worse, this is one of the songs that made me care, made be believe it’s my responsibility to care.

Mileena Rayne is a talented singer-songwriter from the city of Moorhead, MN, where she still lives today. Her upbringing was unconventional, as she spent most of her childhood being raised by her grandparents. During her teenage years, Mileena experienced a period of instability, moving between various homes before living on her own at the age of 16. Music has always been a constant in her life, providing an escape and giving her strength through challenging times.

Her musical journey began with learning the piano. She joined an orchestra, playing the viola before switching to the cello, and also learned the guitar and dabbled with the violin. Her love for folk and pop music influences her work, with her life experiences shaping her lyrics like entries from a journal. Her songs resonate with listeners through their raw emotion and authenticity.

Alongside her music career, Mileena is dedicated to the healthcare industry. With over a decade of experience as a nursing aide, she has worked in long-term care, pharmaceutical research, and psychiatric care. She is currently completing a nursing degree focused on forensic nursing, aspiring to support survivors of abuse and violence. Despite her demanding career and studies, Mileena is a devoted mother to her two daughters.

Mileena shares her passion for music with her fiancé, Christian Kota, who is also a musician. Together, they inspire and support each other in their artistic endeavors, bringing unique depth to their creativity.

With his beats and instrumentals, Felix crafts a unique sound that pays homage to the iconic 80s era while embracing the contemporary vibes of Indie Pop. Inspired by iconic artists like The 1975, Bleachers, Cigarettes After Sex and many others, as well as the essence of Post Punk and the mesmerizing allure of the 80s, Felix successfully bridges the gap between the past and the present. From pulsating melodies from vintage synthesizers to melancholic guitar solos and riffs, the instrumentals embody the perfect marriage of the nostalgic charm of the 80s while maintaining the captivating energy of contemporary music. Felix builds on the old strengths of synth-pop and modernizes the dusty 80s sound. What had already been hyped in the underground in Europe for years is now breaking out of the bedroom producer rooms. Sharp edges, clear lines in the direction and yet a hint of eternally yesterday's aesthetics. What Felix feels is expressed in darkly cool, gently melancholic music.
