In this episode Rev Zoë Garry is joined by Community Church of Seattle's Youth Pastor Rev. Tim Yi to talk about what is means to create intentional conversations around discernment with the youth at his church and also the volunteers that help support the church's Christian education program.

Tim is passionate in reaching the next generation through relationships, discipleship, and creativity. Tim also creates YouTube videos that help people grow in their faith with over 30,000 subscribers. He hopes his online ministry will reach the next generation and inspire them to love God with all their heart, soul, and mind. Some of his hobbies include playing volleyball, basketball, and watching superhero movies.

In this episode Rev Zoë Garry is joined by the Rev. Daniel Heath, Davidson College's Associate Chaplain and Director of the Davidson Forum to talk about conversations on college campuses and reflecting on moments of discernment within their own journeys.

Rev. Heath also serves as Chaplain for Major League Soccer's Charlotte FC. He earned degrees at Morehouse College, University of North Carolina School of Law, Winthrop University, and Princeton Theological Seminary. He recently celebrated 18 years of marriage to Katrina; they have two beautiful sons.

Justin Sheehan is a Lansing born and bred attorney with a fierce pride for the diverse and resilient Capital City he calls home. A twice over graduate of Michigan State University, in social work and law respectively. As the Legal Director and General Counsel for Michigan Community Resources, Sheehan's organization offers support to nonprofit and grassroots organizations with capacity building services, tailored cohort experiences, and legal guidance. 

His involvement in the area is extensive and includes the Chairman of the Lansing Empowerment Network, Vice-Chairman of The Ourspace Foundation, Board Member of the Lansing Growth Fund, Board Member of The Empowerment Institute for Michigan Foundation, Board Member of the Malcolm X Community Commission, member of the Lansing School District's Multicultural Education Taskforce, and member of the Senior Advisory Team for Lansing Community College's Office of Empowerment. Having helped lead the team for the Lansing Promise, he is someone who cares and is making a difference in the Mid-Michigan area.

Leadership Lowdown | Justin Sheehan - Slow Down, No One Can Walk With You When You Are Running Alone

MBN was on the road north, Wednesday, October 1st, as University of Michigan Health-Sparrow - Clinton dedicated an angel sculpture.

A bronze sculpture of an angel – symbolizing hope, healing and compassion
– was unveiled in the healing garden of University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Clinton. The statue, a gift from donor Larry Kremer, reflects UM Health-Sparrow Clinton's mission to serve as a comforting presence for patients and families.

The handcrafted bronze statue was created over a nine-month period and installed on its permanent pedestal in the healing garden. Angels are universal symbols representing guardianship and compassion, mirroring UM Health-Sparrow Clinton's commitment to advancing health care for all patients. 

The event included brief remarks by hospital, foundation, and family members along with the opportunity to view the sculpture following its unveiling.  

This took place at UM Health-Sparrow Clinton, 805 S. Oakland St., St. Johns Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at 11 a.m..

MBN On The Road | University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Clinton, St. Johns Dedicate Angel Sculpture

The CBIA BizCast is turning the tables a little.

In June, Fairfield Woods Middle School Arav Kapoor was the runner-up in the National Civics Bee Connecticut State Finals, narrowly edged out by Tomlinson Middle School's Aarav Pradeep Sahu.

The annual competition aims to improve civics education and literacy among middle school students, their families, and communities. 

The CBIA Foundation hosts the Civics Bee in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and local chambers across Connecticut.

Kapoor has his own podcast, The Geopolitical, where he discusses politics, policy, and more with a variety of state and municipal leaders.

In this special crossover episode, he sits down with CBIA Foundation director Dustin Nord to talk about the foundation, Connecticut’s economic future, the state’s political landscape, even the best pizza in the state.

CBIA BizCast: CBIA Foundation’s Nord Goes GeoPolitical

On October 24, 2025, Ruud Janssen hosted Julie Wynne, a partner at MLL legal firm in Geneva, on the #DESIGNtoCHANGE podcast. Recorded at the Novartis Pavilion in Basel, the session explored the transformative power of conversations and the intersection of law, design thinking, and impactful change. Julie shared her journey from hospitality to becoming a leading legal expert in international estate planning, art law, and sustainable economy. As head of MLL’s Sustainable Economy Industry Group, Julie emphasized embedding purpose and impact into organizational DNA through constitutional documents, policies, and contracts, advocating for a holistic approach to governance.

The Event Canvas methodology was highlighted as a tool for designing events that drive change and innovation. Julie discussed how organizations can integrate sustainability and ESG compliance into events, addressing waste reduction, travel emissions, and community engagement. She introduced the concept of nature’s role in decision-making, citing the Unbounding Nature initiative, which explores nature as inspiration, advisor, director, and shareholder. Julie also highlighted the importance of avoiding greenwashing, referencing the EU Green Claims Directive and the Chancery Lane Project’s model climate clauses.

Julie shared her experiences as a change-maker, working with international charities, mission-driven businesses, and NGOs. She recounted her involvement in the Global Alliance for Impact Lawyers, including its recent summit in Mexico, which focused on benefit corporation laws and fostering collaboration between stakeholders from the Global South and North. She also discussed the Projecto Contratos Justos na Amazonia, which promotes fair contracting practices to protect vulnerable parties, such as indigenous communities, in negotiations.

The conversation explored the evolving role of lawyers in designing impactful solutions, with Julie advocating for early collaboration between event designers and legal advisors to align with regulations and values. She emphasized the importance of convening diverse stakeholders to foster innovation and meaningful exchanges, citing examples like Nexus network vegan conferences and community-led projects that promote sustainability and social impact.

The session concluded with a preview of an upcoming breakfast event hosted by MLL in Geneva on November 13, 2025 where Julie and Ruud will explore event design and its role in driving change and impact. This engaging conversation underscored the importance of collaboration, creativity, and purpose in shaping the future of organizations, events, and society.
