Full Circle 09-06-2024 Palestine Local Events and Electronic Intifada

Last week on Full Circle we continued to keep our eyes and ears on Palestine. On last week’s show, we heard from a recent senate briefing, titled, Gaza, Public Health & Healthcare Access. The hearing featured the voices of doctors and healthcare workers who recently worked in Gaza. We also heard from Nora Barrows Friedman of the Electronic Intifada as she was in conversation with Rashid Khalidi, professor of Arab studies at Columbia University. Recently, Youtube censored the Electronic Intifada, preventing their weekly livestream from being aired on Youtube, we’ll hear from her EI Co-Founder Ali Abunimah on that censorship.

This week on Full Circle we turn our attention to Lebanon and we also check in on some local events from the past couple weeks. On tonight’s show, we hear from the “All Out for Lebanon" rally in San Francisco. We’ll also hear from the “Julian Assgage is Free" celebration that was held in Berkeley last week. Later we’ll hear from the ILWU local 6, they have walked off the job at Georgia Pacific in Antioch, one of Antioch’s largest employers. And we’ll close out the show with some sound from the 10 year anniversary memorial  for Pedie Perez, the unarmed young man who was killed by Richmond police in 2014.

Full Circle 09-27-2024 Lebanon Palestine and Local Events

This week on Full Circle we keep our eyes and ears on Palestine and Lebanon. And we also check in on some news out of the city of Antioch. On tonight’s show. We get an update on the upcoming week of actions here in the Bay Area  marking 1 year of the aggression on Gaza. We’ll be speaking with a representative of Q.U.I.T, Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism for that update. Then later, CA is in the news again making positive changes. The city council just passed Just Cause for Eviction adding that to the list of tenant protections along with Anti Harassment and Rent Control. We’ll hear from the activists at the signing ceremony.  And, Antioch just hired a new City Manager, this comes with the specter of racism and a DOJ investigation that was launched after racist comments were posted on social media, including one post calling for the return of hanging to the town square. We’ll hear from the new City Manager herself as she was officially hired and introducing herself to the public.

Last week on Full Circle we kept our eyes and ears on Palestine and Lebanon. We also checked in with the Quinto family out in Antioch. Their loved one, Angelo Quinto was killed by Antioch police in 2020, they were back in court today. On this episode of Full Circle, we’ll hear from the student led day of action for Palestine marking one year of genocide. We’ll hear from the actions held in Berkeley CA. Then later, we’ll get a short update on the Quinto family’s day in court..

Last week on Full Circle we heard from two women from the organization “Soul Of My Soul”. They recently had a theater cancel their screening of the Palestinian film, “Where Olive Trees Weep”. The cancellation came after heavy pressure from Zionist organizations based mainly on the East Coast who targeted the theater and Livermore government officials. Then in the second half of the show, we’ll speak with organizers of the FLACC 2024 Festival, El Grito Por Thawra; A Cry For Revolution. This is a festival of dance, art, music and poetry. There will also be workshops, ofrendas and solidarity.

He was found lynched in a tree near the Concord BART station in 1985, today we call this MMIP, Missing or Murdered Indigenous People. In the second part of the show, we’ll hear from protesters who disrupted a Halloween event of State Senator Scott Weiner. The mainstream media made it out as an anti-Semitic attack. We’ll hear from the protesters themselves as to why they protest the Senator’s policies

As the devastating war in Gaza continues and of course expanding now into the West Bank Lebanon Syria Iraq and Yemen. We continue to keep our eyes and ears on Palestine and the region. On tonight’s show, We’ll share information about the effort to block a  20 billion dollar weapons deal with Israel. After that update, we’ll hear from the Children’s Press Conference that was held Saturday at the Oakland Children’s Hospital Research Center. Including an interview with organizers of the Children's Martyrs Display that was erected at the event.

This week on Full Circle, we’ll hear from the People’s Arms Embargo as they blocked the entrances to Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield CA. We also will check in with Sophie, a high school student attending Contra Costa College, she is organizing a rally for Palestine on her campus in San Pablo. Part of their grievance is the suspension of professor Asad Kabir for speaking up about Palestine in an all staff email. We’ll speak with professor Kabir as well.
