Summer is heating up on the Northern Hemisphere, so we are opening our doors to some top picks in the Hard Groove charts with sprinkles of Trance edits and Techno destroyers. Major influences from @hotmealrecs @tjr @clubangel @itsxclub

As I was exploring this August episode, I found some inspiration through Perseid and the meteorological event that takes places. The name is derived from Perseids (Greek: Περσείδαι), meaning "sons of Perseus"—the legendary Greek hero who slew Medusa.

Astronomical Significance: The Perseid meteor shower is named because its meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Perseus, which is visible in the Northern Hemisphere during August.

Annual Event: The Perseids are a prolific meteor shower that peaks around August 11–13 each year, producing up to 100 meteors per hour under ideal conditions.

So when you see a Perseid streak across the sky, it's like a celestial tribute to ancient myth—nature’s own Summer Symphony in the stars.

Festival energy runs in my veins. I’ve been behind the decks since 2004, starting with trance before discovering drum & bass through Pendulum’s Girl in the Fire—a turning point that shaped my sound. I’ve rocked crowds from underground raves to high-energy college events, eventually headlining for 100,000 people on New Year’s Eve in Phoenix, Arizona. Alongside building a successful event production company, I’ve stayed true to the craft—dropping sets at intimate renegades, streaming late-night sessions, and keeping the vibe alive. This archive is a reflection of that journey.

Introducing Patrao, the Indian-born, Sydney-based DJ/producer with a sound that's as diverse and vibrant as the person he is. As a resident for Tabularasa Collective, Patrao mixes sounds from a wide range of genres - soul, ethnic Indian, house, and techno - into a full groove of electronic music that makes it hard to stop moving.

Patrao's love of music began at an early age when he started playing the guitar and keyboard. As he grew older, he became fascinated by the different sounds and rhythms of the world, and he began traveling extensively to explore new musical traditions. His journeys across Australia, Japan, Europe and India - as well as other parts of the world - have deeply influenced his music, adding a unique and worldly perspective to his sound.

What sets Patrao apart is his ability to weave together his eclectic tastes and experiences into a cohesive, immersive sonic journey that transports his audience to new heights. He has played for labels such as Mantra Collective, Moonshift Music, SUTRA, Bodywork, Blueprint, Breakfast Club, KODE, Monkey Business, Indian House Music Project, SOMAD, Test Press Tokyo, Shipwrecked, Summercontrast, The Other Side and more, solidifying his place as a standout artist in the electronic music scene.

Whether he's playing at a festival, club, or private event, Patrao creates a space for people to connect, let loose, and explore the rhythms of the world. In short, Patrao's music is a reflection of his travels and experiences.

Then:
Bought my first Kam belt drive record decks in 1998, and started DJ-ing shortly around Cork City and County as well as getting a slot on local stations Kiss FM, NRG FM, Klub FM and a few shows on the legendary Radio Friendly. Genres at the time- trance, house and hard-house. Also started using Acid Pro to make my own edits and mashups.

Having been retired from the DJ-ing game since 2006, Ableton Live filled the void as I started to learn to produce tracks.

Now...
In 2019, I picked up my first midi controller, a Pioneer SB3 with Serato Pro and started putting new set mixes on mixcloud.

Currently, I'm putting out bootlegs and mashups using Ableton as a kind of learning curve to making original tracks.

Short term goal - 2k+ followers. DONE!
Long term goal - get something signed! DONE!
New goals incoming, roll on 2023!
