This year’s editions of Accidents in North American Climbing and American Alpine Journal are off to the printer! We had Dougald MacDonald and Pete Takeda on the podcast, the editors of these world-renowned books, to discuss all the details of what goes into making these books: including how stories get selected, the challenges of investigating how accidents happen, how these books fit into the larger climbing media landscape, and the long history of these books. Our editors also chat about what  it’s like to edit over 100 stories about climbers hurting themselves and then still go climbing. We cover how these books have been translated and utilized across the globe, as well as trends in accidents this year. The American Alpine Club Podcast is your guide to the climbing community. We're not your typical training podcast. Instead, we're covering the advocacy issues facing climbers, diving into forgotten and niche stories from climbing history, discovering undercover crushers, analyzing trends in climbing accidents, hearing from SAR professionals, and exploring the biggest cultural ideas in climbing with some of climbing's top athletes.

Amateur musician and singer. Programmer by occupation. I play WITH people rather than for them.

Musical path - An accordion starting at 6 in an arts achool til I was 14. Then I've moved onto keys and acoustic guitar to keep myself busy trough self study. Picking up electric/bass/proper acoustic guitars later on to get back to keys via el. piano and to acoustic guitar. Had some music theory blind spots filled in a handful of sessions by my college friend who is and excellent jazz bassist only to continue acoustic via public acoustic jamms and folk events. Started singing in a choir and semi-solo. In my current chapter - applying stringed instrument theory to a Cello 🎻. I prefer to not learn pieces note by note anymore.


An average pursuer of mindfulness in his lifelong battle against distraction and short attention span. And a ton of other stuff.
