Ron Middag began his radio career at KDIG in San Diego, a middle of the road station that teed him up for a long and successful path through the artistic wonders of freeform radio, first at KPRI across town, then at KPPC in Pasadena, KMET is Los Angeles, and KSAN in San Francisco, where he worked with Tom Donahue and that incredibly talented staff he put together to light up the airwaves with all the great music that was being made in the Seventies. If you love Southern rock music, you gotta hear the Alabama State Troopers, a road show of great talent from down South, backed by Muscle Shoals session players and backup singers.  Jac Holzman was signing a lot of these folks to his label, Elektra,  and one of them, singer-songwriter-producer Don Nix, said, let's take this lineup on tour.  Nix, famed bluesman Furry Lewis, and this lineup cooked up a helluva show, went out on the road for a bunch of shows that rocked the audiences,  and then went their separate ways. One and done, it was, but a great one!
