Dat 'French Disco Boogie' Selection #2 [Vinyl Only]

This week, I played the softer fringes of my record collection at the incredible listening bar bird. It was a bit of a challenge to create one theme as 80% of my vinyl is still in the UK, but it was a beautiful space to explore what I had and I was super happy with the melancholy and then funky vibes that were produced!

bird is a captivatingly beautiful space with a custom built system, and a pair of technics with a Resor rotary mixer. 

I played tracks from Bob Marley's Rastaman Vibration album, some Mazzy Star, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, loads of Ethiopian jazz and Arabic funk, some lovely slow disco flips, Nigerian soul and afrobeat, some cumbia, I mean, just all sorts.

Soft and easy on the ears, I hope you enjoy the mix!

Delivering the goods for mix number 08 is talented producer and selector, COHN! 

COHN is a producer and DJ from London, who has released a number of records on Kitsune, Nervous Records, and recently a belting EP on Mister T records.

This mix was put together as a tribute to Disco from all over the world, incorporating songs from Egypt, India, Europe, and the US. He focused on bringing interesting vinyl releases over traditional House music that gives the set much more of a selector energy when compared to a long club mix. This speaks to the shows he's been playing recently and his shift away from traditional Dance music DJing, towards bringing vibes that are both exploratory and fun.
