Episode 79 very much lived up to the eclectic aspirations I have for this show. I knew what was coming for the guest mix, so I kept things nice and varied in the first hour, with plenty of old bits, a good few new bits and one or two weird bits. Plenty of lesser known stuff and steering clear of the bangers for the most part. Reckon my last track might split the room a bit too…?

In hour 2 I handed things over to Michael Brown AKA Brown Sauce, a DJ from Dorset who’s now living in Cornwall. He was a resident DJ at The Nook cocktail Bar in Weymouth as well as hosting a 'Smooth Sounds' sunday show on local radio, and he Loves anything groovy and funky - from classics to little hidden gems!

Michael’s set is all over the place in the best possible sense, blending together all sorts into an immensely fun melting pot of styles. We’ve got reggae, hip hop, quirky beats, worldwide grooves, funk and more. It’s expertly mixed together, but you have no idea what’s coming next, and I love that. Finding the funk from different corners of the music world is exactly what this show is all about, and Brown Sauce has done us proud on this one.

Funkier Radio Episode 79 - Brown Sauce Guest Mix

This episode was a third birthday special! To mark 3 years since I first took the plunge and started doing these shows, I decided it would be nice to fill the first hour entirely with tracks from previous guest DJs. I had great fun cramming in as many tracks as I could, working up from 100 to 125 BPM over the course of the hour, with appearances from 21 previous guests as well as a cheeky new one from myself. 

I managed to bag a very special guest for the second hour, someone I’ve been trying to get on the show for a while now - Mexico’s very own Hotmood! He’s one of the most respected, talented and prolific producers in our scene, putting out a seemingly endless string of releases on all sorts of labels, but never letting the quality slip. His tracks make regular appearances on my show and I’m proud to have  released an EP on his label Discoweey.

This mix is made up entirely of his own stuff, and it’s great - loads of his trademark exotic, quirky, obscure, fruity sound and of course razor sharp production throughout. Big, big thanks to Guillermo for sending me this great mix, and big big thanks to each and every one of you who has listened to the show over the last 3 years. I really really appreciate it, and can’t wait to bring you more shows with more excellent guests soon!
