Funky Tech House Mix 2025 | Classics, Remixes & Pure House Energy DJ Set (1 Hour)

There was a trend in 90s house music where the actual lyrics of whatever song was being sampled (and filtered) was purposefully inaccurate--instead of saying what they originally said, they were listed as to what they sounded like...and because of the brain's desire to discover and embrace patterns--whether or not those patterns are actually there--the brain will start to hear what your eyes tell you that you should be hearing.  

The best example of this was when Chicago (yes, the band) had their song "Street Sounds" sampled by The Bucketheads (Kenny Dope!)--but the song was not titled "Street sounds fall into my mind," as the original lyrics would suggest.  

Instead, the song was called "Da Bomb."  

(...ahhh, you see what I did there.)  

Well, this was going to be another one (though, nearly 30 years later)...as I was going to call this track "Diva Getting Stronger"...despite the fact that the first vocal element is saying "Keep On Getting Stronger"--you can "hear" it as "Diva Getting Stronger."  The other vocal sample "could" also be heard as "Diva, Diva, Diva, Diva, Body Strong..."  It's not, the sample says "Keep That"--not "Diva."  But it's more fun to think of it as, like the thumbnail, a fierce ruling diva pumping iron in the gym and seeing massive gains.  

This might be my favorite Interbay house track.  Big statement, I know, but this fills me with the same vibe I had when I spent every Saturday night spinning for a packed house of 1200 and the juice that provided.  It is a hard feeling to replicate, all these years later--but this track has hints of it.  

Would I have spun this?  I think I would have.  

...and I think it would have kept the floor jumping.

The name NGAI is a dual tribute: to Ngai, the Supreme God in Kikuyu spirituality, and the Japanese word Genkai (限界), meaning “limit” or “boundary.” This fusion symbolizes a commitment to breaking boundaries and pushing the edge of electronic music through storytelling and sound.

Growing up under the African sky, music was always the thread — pop in the 80s, Alt, funk and house in the 90s, and all-out parties through London and Ibiza in the 2000s. From H2O blowouts in to sunrise sets, I’ve been hooked on the dancefloor and that sense of freedom since day one.
