(To be honest, I didn't know what the word meant when I picked it out of a list of "cool words that start with 'J'", which I was using to find the inspiration for a potential Interbay song title.  I have been wanting to post a track with a title starting with the letter "J" for a couple of months now.  Did you know, that with the posting of "Jeremiad", all 26 letters of the alphabet have started the titles of at least two Interbay SoundCloud exclusive tracks?  The J was the last one that had only one.  Bonus Interbay points for anyone who can name the other song whose title begins with "J.")  

In true Interbay fashion, I don't actually think this song qualifies as a Jeremiad (much like the Interbay track "Montage" wasn't REALLY a montage, despite it saying in the lyrics that it was.)  Further research, that, unfortunately, I didn't do before finishing up the track, shows that there's more to the real meaning of the word Jeremiad--the name is a reference to the Biblical Jeremiah (how much fun must HE have been at parties, eh?)  It is usually written prose, or a delivered speech (though it can sometimes be in rhyme, it isn't often found in song form.)  It also tends to be on the topic of the ills of society, rather than just being bummed out, personally, about something.  

Had I known that when I picked the word as a project title, I might have constructed a very different song--but, THIS is the song I made...and I've chosen to keep the title.  It is a cool word that starts with "J" and, to be frank, we could probably use a Jeremiad right about now, as a society.  

(Actually, to be Frank, "If I can make it there, I'll make it...anywhere.")  

So, this non-Jeremiad called "Jeremiad" is stitched together from four different vocal sources, a palm muted electric guitar, and a classic funky break.  You'll also be blasted by synths, a phased out psychedelic funky guitar, and a bunch of OTHER funky breaks.  

Jeremiads are known to be long and drawn out--is EVERY Interbay track a Jeremiad?  This one almost reaches 7 minutes--but, compared to yesterday's track, "Windscale," this is practically fun sized.  

I took Nigel Tufnel's advice when mixing this track, everything is all the way up...up to eleven on this track.  It's my Wall of Sound, without the bad wig or the waving a gun around.  This may call for a remix someday--just to calm things down a bit.
