This recording is a true time capsule.
Captured live at a time when everything was played straight from wax. No edits, no sync buttons, no second chances. Just records, hands, ears and instinct.

A deep ride through downbeats, nu jazz, future funk and broken grooves. Featuring sounds from artists like DJ Shadow, DJ Food, Tosca, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Tricky Cris, The Strike Boys, Soul’n’Soda, Dadamnphreakphunknoize and more.

The sound of Groovalistic as it lived and breathed on the dancefloor.

This mix marks a special moment.
It’s the last recording from that era that I actually burned onto CD and kept in my archive. After this, there were more nights, more music, more moments but no more recordings like this one.

And it’s been sitting there ever since.
For 24 years.

Back then, guests could actually take this mix home on CD after the night. Hard to believe how long ago that feels now.

Maybe that’s why it hits differently today.
Like opening a time capsule you didn’t even know you sealed.

Raw, unpolished and fully live.
A moment in time, preserved on wax and finally resurfacing.

And this is not the end.

Most tracks begin as loops and sketches created using hardware and software instruments. These human-crafted ideas are then expanded through AI-assisted production, transforming raw concepts into fully realized compositions. Sound effects are added post-production to increase listener immersion.

Lyrics, concepts, and melodic ideas are iterated through an experimental workflow that treats AI as a creative instrument rather than a replacement. The result is electronic music that feels futuristic yet deeply human: romantic, uplifting, avant-garde, dark, and immersive.

Q: Do you really create the music, or is it automated?

A: The music is created through a deliberate, hands-on process. Most tracks begin as original loops, melodies, or arrangements made using hardware and software instruments. In some cases, AI-assisted generation is used as raw material, but those elements are curated, edited, restructured, and mixed by hand. Final tracks are shaped through post-production decisions that make each piece non-repeatable. This workflow is not automated: it is guided, selective, and intentional.

Q: Why does the music use foreign languages?

A: Language is used as sound, rhythm, and emotional texture. Meaning travels through tone and feeling as much as words. These tracks are meant to be felt first, across cultures, beliefs, and borders. The emphasis is on atmosphere, emotion, and shared human experience.

DJ G.I.D., a true pioneer of the electronic music scene in Koblenz / Germany, kicked off the very first Groovalistic Party in 1995, alongside his DJ buddies and friends, M-Pire and Oldcut. Throughout the '90s and '00s, they took over nearly every club in and around Koblenz, showcasing their distinctive blend of Electrofunk, BigBeat, Drum'n'Bass, Jungle, Breakbeat, Downbeat, and Dub. The Groovalistic Party soared in fame beyond the confines of Koblenz, often packing clubs to the brim, sometimes with crowds exceeding 1,000 people – sheer madness! This popularity allowed them to host renowned guests from Germany, Austria, and especially England, including DJs, live bands, and video artists. But the Groovalistic DJs Oldcut, G.I.D., and M-Pire didn't just stay local; they toured across Germany and neighboring countries.

Now at 56, G.I.D. remains a fervent vinyl enthusiast and passionate DJ. Once known for carrying hefty crates of records, he has since embraced digital DJing and amassed a vast collection of digital tracks. Always on the hunt for something new, he has continually broadened his musical tastes: from Downtempo to Global Bass, Electronic Worldbeats, and experimental Bass and Dubstep stuff, whether straightforward or playful – no two sets are ever the same. His sets are versatile, thrilling, and full of variety. We're all eager to see what musical journey he'll take us on next.
