Since its inception in 2022 - Victor Ruiz’ Lisbon based Volta Records has platformed electronic music that carries a certain, singular balance between melodic delicacy and percussive power.
The imprint has played host to artists such Tao Andra, Alex Stein and Lisa May and next up is a formidable 2-tracker from rising Rome based artist GIULIA (IT).
'Colors In Your Eyes' reflects the Volta canon perfectly as it sets a swooning, heartstring vocal soaring over the top of a thunderous kick. Bass synths saw through minor-key chord shifts while hats and claps ring out like polished swords.
'You Are Never Alone' follows up with another pacy Prog bass line that's set galloping over a powerful, tightly-woven groove. A dilated breakdown pulls the track apart, gradually dismantling energy that builds up again slow toward an arresting vocal. This sends a signal out to the floor before the drop lands with ruinous force. This is raw, somatic Techno at its finest - music that targets body and soul and is certain to cause bedlam on the dance floor.

Kuukou continues to fly on course with another blood-pumping addition to the catalogue from VOLTA and Respekt affiliated Giulia. Based in Rome, Giulia is a masterful producer, DJ and sound designer whose spacious and propulsive Techno has been supported by dignitary such as Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Amelie Lens and of course - Simina Grigoriu.

Here she lines up a dance floor rocket that draws together a compelling contrast between brutalist synth and drum work and Giulia's light, spectral vocals. 

'Shadow' charges straight out of the blocks with a formidable kick rattling under swift, burnished hats and caustic stabs. On-beat claps whip up frenzied energy in build ups towards breaks that grant space for the vocals to glow through the fog before the groove slaps back with power and punch. Not to be missed!

Simina Grigoriu's remix of 'Shadow' has a stripped-back sound with a subdued bassline that allows the percussion to deliver a hypnotic groove. It also makes sparse use of the original's vocal to increase its impact in key sections.

It’s no news that Victor Ruiz have been producing authentic music from day one. With a need to incorporate that sound more and more, VOLTA was created.

“I’ve always felt that my music was somewhat different and most times hard to place on a certain label. I saw many other artists feeling the same. There was a gap. That’s when I knew it was time for me to create VOLTA.”
Victor wants to create a new platform that not just releases music but also connects artists and human beings.

A percentage of the profits of the label goes to charities and causes chosen by all the artists that are involved.

“I want to bring consciousness to our scene that we should not just make and play music. There’s so much more beyond that. Helping people should be one of the main focuses in our lives. That’s why we are artists, to connect and to help.”

Some of the biggest DJ names in the world hail from Belgium, producing music that has taken us to the furthest corners of house & techno music. Gijs Cox is a good example of what the small country brings to the world stage. A DJ/Producer who is able to merge various genres and combine them into a driving collection of beats and catchy grooves.

He was already on the line-up with world famous artists such as; Snoop Dogg, Sean Paul, Charlotte De Witte, Nina Kraviz, Kölsch, Camelphat, Goose, Soulwax, Boys Noize, Fred Again..., Joyhauser, Jamie Jones, Patrick Topping, Joris Voorn, ... His ability to create that indefinable magic dropping in a set helps it stand out from the crowd. 
From the influences of rock and urban to commercial and 90s/00s straight to house & techno and beyond... His journey is one that transcends boundaries and builds the party atmosphere for all audiences.

In 2021 & 2022, Gijs Cox entered the scene as a producer and it was a huge success! He launched a huge release schedule with songs like 'IDLY', 'By My Side', 'Higher', 'Boom', ... Immediately he was asked to play the opening set at the famous Belgian festival; 'Pukkelpop' (as you can see here; https://youtu.be/vag_zZbOQtU) where he gave the 'Boiler Room' crowd an unforgettable opening set! After only 15 minutes everyone started screaming and singing and the party really started! Briefly; this was one to never forget! In recent years, his DJ gigs have taken him to almost every corner of Belgium, from Hasselt to Tongeren, from Diepenbeek to Bocholt to Roeselare, Lier, Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, ... There are few places where you haven't seen him yet ! From gigs in famous clubs like; La Rocca, Versuz, Groovy Tunes to gigs on radio stations like Topradio & many others! In recent years, this guy has certainly proven that he deserves to be one of the bigger Belgian DJs! In 2023, he will once again rock the Techno Scene with another extensive release schedule with tracks like 'CU', 'Squeeze', 'Clouds' & 'Vortex' and his latest tracks 'Morning Light' & 'Dust'. With these Festival-inspired anthems that pump like no other, he's about to rock the Belgian club scene once again.

As his upcoming releases will show, that passion will live on and Gijs Cox's music will continue to reunite young and old on the dance floor.

I grew up in Frankfurt Germany, the "Capital of Electronic Music" . In the mid 90s i fell in love with Electronic Music.....I've been partying in Clubs like Dorian Gray, Omen, Monza, Cocoon Club, U60311, MTW, Robert Johnson, THW and many more!
Having a passion for music for more than 3 decades ago, in 2020 i decided to become a DJ. My inspiration was Tim Gray and Alex Ackermann who later gave me a chance to play at their live event. This is how my journey started and i now play at bars and open events in Frankfurt. My passion for music speaks every time i get behind the decks. I believe music brings people together and this is what makes my journey rewarding!
