Les Nations Unies célèbrent ce 21 mars la première Journée mondiale des glaciers.

En janvier, à l'occasion du coup d'envoi de l'année internationale de la préservation des glaciers, deux jeunes reporters de notre partenaire Eco Radio du collège Vincent Van Gogh, à Blénod-lès-Pont-à-Mousson, en France, Albin Cordary et Ethan Charpentier (avec Romain Marchal à la technique) ont réalisé un entretien avec Thomas Condom, hydrologue à l'Institut des géosciences de l'énvironnement de Grenoble. Il est également membre du Conseil consultatif de l'année internationale de la préservation des glaciers.

d’Arcachon”, precisely from the city called Lanton.

First, concerning Lanton, I can say that I lived there from the age of 5 till that of 18. I
still go there very often, several times a year, during my vacation. What I like is the
ocean. It is a seaside town, we are located on the “Bassin d’Arcachon”. We are quite
surrounded by nature, and I really like the beach, where I have spent many summers
with my friends. ...

In this week’s episode, host Daniel Raimi talks with Vivek Srikrishnan about factors that contribute to sea level rise. Srikrishnan, an assistant professor at Cornell University, describes the difficulties involved in analyzing the impact of the complex factors related to climate and climate change, which in turn lead to uncertainties in projecting the extent of future sea level rise. In a new publication, Srikrishnan and coauthors model different scenarios that capture those uncertainties. Srikrishnan also points out how short-lived greenhouse gases can lead to greater ice melt compared to more persistent greenhouse gases, as well as the irreversible nature of ice melts.

My musical history dates back 65 years as I learned classical piano for 3 years from the age of 8, then developed my ear by listening to pop and rock songs on the radio and learning them on piano. It's not till I was 17 that I began playing with others in bands for a few years and performed locally. 
I started composing and singing and recording my songs when I turned 50, my mother was dying, she had been a chorist for 30 years, and i wanted to show her that I could sing a lovely love song before she passed at the age of 80 in 2005. I sang « L’important c’est la rose » de Becaud.
I've composed 145 songs and have 140 on Soundcloud for monetizing and distribution. 
I am semi-retired massage therapist and am making more time to compose and record.

How to make orchestral music? Something I have been studying and working on for years. Writing film music started as a passion following years of playing the French horn in a band and my all-time love for film music.

I wanted to take that step further and build upon the experience of playing an instrument that plays a key role in both classical and film music. Using the little knowledge I had about classical instruments and film score writing, I was looking for a means to create my epic film music and join the same journey many other people out there also embark on.

So, how to start scoring film music? I set out on a creative expedition destined to offer listeners (and viewers!) a film-like experience as if I had a film music orchestra at my fingertips.

Some of us may recount dramatic events such as floods and wildfires, or we may address our observations of changes in seasonal patterns and our fears for the future of our families and communities. We may discuss how climate change is forcing our communities to adapt to extreme weather and sea level rise. Or we may speak about how we are getting involved in the movement to fight the fossil fuel industry through community organizing or nonviolent protest.There is no "right" way to talk about climate change, as it is a vast topic that is increasingly touching every corner of our lives. CSP also facilitates educational workshops where students learn to speak about their own responses to climate change and interview guest speakers about theirs.
