In 2014, I recorded a bunch of one-take live vocal covers. This is one of about 15 recordings I made. They were recorded by me just playing the original songs through a speaker while recording a live video of me singing without a microphone (on my old iPad). There are no effects at all. Audio is completely raw.

Grace in Exile is a digital death metal project, currently driven by a single member. Its music explores themes ranging from everyday struggles and political turmoil to the complexities of human relationships.  

Both the sound and the visual artworks emerge from a painstaking creative process—a collaboration between human persistence and artificial intelligence, shaped through countless trials and errors.  

The result is Grace in Exile: a death metal band that exists solely within the metaverse, delivering a gloomy yet powerful sonic experience, with deep, sophisticated lyrics that confront the troubles of our world with seriousness and humour, via powerful growling and screaming noises, but also strong clean vocals and highly technical performance of the instruments.

Starting out in 1989, Dave spent the early ’90s writing songs and building bands, shaping ideas in rehearsal rooms long before laptops and plugins ruled the world. Then life accelerated—fast—and the dream had to wait its turn.

In 2023, the pause finally ended. With a mini studio packed with drums, keyboards, guitars, a whole arsenal of mics, hardware mixers (seriously, so many mixers), and the recording gear modern music demands, Dave returned to what mattered most: creating. Not as a polished pro, but as someone who never stopped caring, listening, learning, and imagining.

Across the years he’s walked under many names—Dave Cube, D©evil, Dave Legend, Player7o—but the mission stays the same: make honest music, built from passion, persistence, and a little darkness around the edges.
