The end of those January blues marked the first Like It’s 1999 of 2026 and the first at the Emporium in Coalville, one of the few superclub-era spaces still standing and a true Midlands institution. It was one of those occasions that reminds you exactly why this music still matters, celebrating what we now consider to be Trance and Hard House classics, with a truly special cyber theme.

A huge number of clubbers made the commitment to dress the part, with rave attire straight out of 1999, whether pulled from long-kept wardrobes or sourced fresh from Cyberdog for the occasion. Seeing that level of dedication across the room gave the night an authenticity that cannot be manufactured. I was genuinely taken aback with how full the club was and by how far people had travelled to be there. The energy came not just from the music but from a shared understanding of what it represented. The care and attention shown by those on the dancefloor was impossible to miss and deserves real credit. 

The lineup reflected that same respect for the period, featuring Judge Jules, Scot Project, Lisa Pin Up, Signum, Nick Rafferty, myself and many others, all bringing different chapters of that sound together under one roof. My set ran from 6:30 to 8pm and leaned fully into the spirit of the moment, with classics such as Liquid Child - Diving Faces, Fire & Ice - Lost Emotions and Jonah - Shhhht... Listen!! landing exactly as they should. 

The atmosphere was sublime with the floor in constant motion and a sense of collective release which only comes when the music, the setting and the crowd align. All in all, an unforgettable experience and clear proof that when Trance is treated with respect, it can deliver something truly spectacular.

Here we are with Gatecrasher Experiences Episode 17. In this month’s episode we have the Norwegian based DJ Andresen dropping a guest mix with a dreamy Progressive mix to warm us up for the Early mix. We then go Gem digging again for an Uplifting Late mix with myself.
