The tokay gecko is a nocturnal arboreal gecko in the genus Gekko, the true geckos. It is native to Asia and some Pacific Islands. The word "tokay" is an onomatopoeia of the sound made by males of this species, not to be confused with the "Shawty what that thang do" Salamander.

The first time I heard a gecko, I couldn't believe it was this kind of lizard making that sound, but it was! At the beginning of this recording, we can hear a gecko "singing" in the night of the Mekong Delta, and then the quiet atmosphere of the city of Can Tho at those hours…
