so many songs that i forget to share. remember, some people don't listen to music, they only hear and are attracted to annoying buildups and sounds, and don't have the patience to listen for 20 seconds to the same sound. they underestimate what music is. they are stuck on one sort of sounding 15 seconds sort of song and everything else is bad in their eyes. a guitar sounds like a guitar, the whole song, so do synths so do my songs. when I listen to my songs, im stunned by myself because I forget how I made it, it's a super complex route I go through for each song to get it how I want. each and every time a different trip. i need more variation, and more buildups, I know but then it's not anymore how I wanted it how it sound.  if it sounds good and beautiful then yeah, ill use it.

It started around the age of nine, when I got my first musical instrument: My Bontempi organ. Since I developed a hearing for music quite early, I attended a music school a little later. But it was not really my idea of ​​music because I had to play what was prescribed in the training materials. So I did not want to make music. I wanted to realize my own ideas, to compose my own music. "Every journey starts with the first step."

So after five years I said goodbye to my music school and started to write music myself. (At this point, I would like to thank my music teachers, Mr. Gagesch and Mr. Burger, for supporting me in believing in music and making music come alive.) I'm not a fan of cover songs, because these people lack something: The creative spirit of creating one's own.

First with paper and pencil, I later used the computer technology. My first sound machine was the Commodore C64. At this time a soundmachine par excellence. Continuation of an Amiga and the first personal computer. Inspired by Jean Michel Jarre, Kitaro, Oliver Shanti, Jan Hammer and John Carpenter to musicians like Christopher von Deylen (Schiller), I am now writing my own music. Some people write in a journal. My diary is my music. In my songs, I use all my experiences and emotions. And for me it will always be a content of life to use my musical vein and write my journal in music. At that time, right at the beginning of my educational career, my music teacher Mr. Burger told me a phrase that accompanies me through the world of music: "Covering a song is something that many artists can do, but creating their own song is art."

My name is Darby Gardner. I've dabbled in making music for almost 30 years. In late 1991, my cousin and I got together and started writing and recording raps. We used my parents' organ, a couple of cheap synthesizers, and a record full of break beats to make our music. I wouldn't say that we were overly skilled at our craft -- in fact looking back now, it sounds kinda cheesy -- but we liked what we did. In 1993, I went solo using those same cheap synthesizers and break beats to record my raps. Again, quite cheesy and nothing groundbreaking, but it was a good outlet. Over the years, I discovered various music making programs and I would throw together some songs. Most recently, I've started using Ableton Live Lite, which I was able to get for free a few years ago via a new sign-up promotion here on SoundCloud.

Currently, I make two types of music under two different monikers. My more upbeat and faster-paced electronic and techno music is created under the name PhazeShift, while my more ambient and new-age type music is made under the name Infinidium. Fun fact: each song that I make as Infinidium has the name of a color (as listed on Wikipedia) as its title. That's basically me. I hope you enjoy my music.
