Gold Rush


   “Sam McGee’s Lover’s Lament”, is making its anticipated release as the first single collaboration by singer-songwriter Melyssa Lee and members of new band, Education Party. An innovative take on a classic literary work “The Cremation of Sam McGee,” the song explores the fictional perspective of this character’s lover with themes of love and loss from a historical context. “It is about the realization that might have been when a loved one prospects to hopes and dreams during the Yukon Gold Rush back in the late 1800s,” comments Melyssa Lee.

   This musical work of literary inspiration is bound to resonate with many, both with readers of the original work, as well as rekindling new interest for both the story and now the music. How does the collaboration process between Lee and Education Party influence the final sound of the track? “In the song, you’ll hear the cinematic expression and collaboration of all the musical instruments and influences of our band members to paint the story in a style unique to Education Party. Even the album art was painted by one of our band members,” says band member Jerevieux.
