Birds of fire felt flat so I took time to circle back to this 24 minute long synth session I decided to slather in function loop samples. I thought keeping it intact was better, but it will most likely get split to part 1 & 2 for the final release

Another one hot off the presses. This is still raw and not fully mastered but was born of the cosmos as a universal message of love, hope, healing, acceptance, unity, forgiveness, and transcendence. Divine Intervention to remind us all we are one, and need to remember to love one another over personality cults and political mayhem meant to keep us grounded in lower chakra realms. SHout to Function Loops for having the layering I needed to translate what I could not squeeze out of my synths!

A 3rd version of the original track I posted a few days ago, this version also featuring my brother playiong guitar and also doing a second guitar overlay processed thru DS Tantra to give it some air effects and make a nice blend thru the second break and main guitar section.

Another Synth core of weird and wild sounds with some stem and loop layers from Function Loops. this one is more sci fi or maybe Psy Fi, and slowed down would even work as a Psy Tech release, but I needed more simple and high energy pieces for Rise of the Phoenix" to help with mixing the album as a whole for a DJ set release.

When I first started working in my DAW I did a track I jokingly called "Enter the Foosetrix" it was sort of a goofing around thing for Jan the Label founder. I did a few changes and modified soem core sounds to recrreate the track as something new and progressive, with hints of light and darkness.

This one was a lot of fun, it was basically a pretty slappin break beat / square bass and hard-hitting Bass, Kick, and percussion with Function Loops layered for psy elements and effects. For a Recent Twitch raid I had finally synced Live 12 with the Dawless setup and live recorded basslines from my Donner B1, and The Virus Ti2 and Virus B, and a little bass emphasis and kicks with hats from the TR-6s and SH 4-d.

Set I did for Psylife 31 featuring a bunch of my mastered work being released on Greentree Records for Rise of the Phoenix, and several tracks I recently pulled from the release catalog that I have not really played yet. This was a super fun set that was one of my best 2 hour runs in a while! This will most likely also be a DJ mix released with Greentree!

BAO is the psytrance project of Nicola Filippini.
Coming from Brescia in Italy, he entered the scene 15 years ago. He started with DJ'ing and creating parties, and has since made some small festivals as well. After some years of DJing and organizing, he created his own psytrance project called BAO and started to perform around the world. After a while he joined Blacklite Records and grew as an artist and forged his unique sound. His music is immediately recognisable with deep bass lines and groovy rythmics, which can drive you into a powerful psychedelic journey!

In 2020, he found a new creative direction in psytechno, a genre that blends deep, dark and groovy beats with driving energy. Since then, he's been a key figure in promoting the sound across Italy and Europe.

Beyond DJing, BAO is known for organizing events and festivals that bring together diverse music communities. As the newly appointed Italian label ambassador and resident DJ for AlpaKa MuziK, he continues to champion innovative electronic music while shaping the psytechno scene with his passion and forward-thinking approach.

Music is my passion, it's my creative space where I can express myself. It's an integral part of my life.
When I make music I feel free from time and space, and just in flow with my creative energy.

It's always interesting to see where a new track will lead me.

The feeling I get when I create psytrance is a feeling of power, celebration, connection, and that is what I love to share with my audience.

Being on stage is purely magical, because I can really feel the connection with the crowd, and their reaction to my powerful beats.

Bringing people into the present moment with my music is the biggest satisfaction. To see them dance, enjoy and express my music through their movements is truly rewarding.  

Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed, and I do my part in reminding people of that.
