Voyages of my mind ft. Orla Callan

In this track, exaggerate the density of the voices. I downloaded a few more of the "natural" and by sequencing them a strange rhythmic base was created, which seduced me by including it. Nuance with voices in different higher, sharp and dynamic ranges, intertwining, caused new phrases and words fragmented and not existing in the original recordings, to be born. Spatiality played a fundamental role in giving it depth. It's like the lights and shadows in terms of sound, are antagonized. It seemed to me a disturbing texture. If you pay attention, the different grains of the vinyl create their own soundscape. I loved this. It was like listening to different songs within one. If you have time, discover them! They sound like creaking wood, like something sizzling..

🇪🇸En este track, exagere la densidad de las voces. Baje algunas más de lo “natural” y al secuenciarlas se creó una base rítmica extraña, que me sedujo al incluirla. Matizar con voces en distintos rangos más elevados, agudos y dinámicos, entrelazándose, hizo que nuevas frases y vocablos fragmentados y no existentes en las grabaciones originales, nacieran. La espacialidad jugó un papel fundamental para darle profundidad. Es como que las luces y sombras en cuanto a sonoridad, se antagonizaran. Me pareció una textura inquietante. Si prestas atención, los distintos granos del vinilo crean su propio paisaje sonoro. Esto me encantó. Fue como escuchar distintas canciones dentro de una misma. Si tienes tiempo, descúbrelas! Suenan a madera crujiendo, a algo chisporroteando..

Antagonistic feelings

The exquisite experience of granulizing such an old recording, immortalized on a vinyl, was a pleasure for me to be able to sculpt it. Choosing the right two songs to merge them as one was almost spontaneous among so many tests. And by playing with the tones and speeds of the voices I got two choruses, apparently, created by people outside it. In addition, by sliding down the track capturing each grain and with the right effects, I managed to practically transform its language of origin. If you get carried away by this song, it would even take you to a noisy distant land where an ethnic memory tries to emerge. Have a good trip!

🇪🇸La exquisita experiencia de granulizar una grabación tan antigua, inmortalizada en un vinilo, se me hizo un placer poder esculpirla. Elegir las dos canciones adecuadas para fusionarlas como una fue casi espontánea entre tantas pruebas. Y al jugar con las tonalidades y velocidades de las voces conseguí dos coros, aparentemente, creados por personas ajenas al mismo. Ademas al deslizarme por la pista captando cada grano y con los efectos adecuados, conseguí transformar hasta prácticamente su lengua de origen. Si te dejas llevar por esta canción, incluso te llevaría a una sonora tierra lejana donde una memoria étnica intenta emerger. Buen viaje!

Birth (Intro)

Every sound particle of these old vinyls made me lose myself in them. Then when sequencing the voices and sliding through the recording following the natural rhythm of it I realized that if I was able to mix, with the same rhythmic pattern, other songs and subtly over layering them I could create something with more sound density. I placed each layer in a different shade, and yes, I played a little with the pitch. It was very fun. In the end, I couldn't help the temptation to improvise an irregular tap to give it that more tribal touch. It could be a typical song, one of those that evoke vestiges of some ancestral initiation ritual, of those men who went out to build their own lives transforming themselves, to return renewed to their community... or maybe my imagination is very big.

🇪🇸Cada partícula sonora de estos viejos vinilos me hacía perderme en ellos. Luego al secuenciar las voces y deslizarme por la grabación siguiendo el ritmo natural de la misma me di cuenta que si era capaz de mezclar, con el mismo patrón rítmico, otras canciones y sutilmente sobre ponerlas en capas podía crear algo con más densidad sonora. Cada capa la situé en una tonalidad distinta, y si, jugué un poquito con el pich. Fue muy divertido. Al final, no pude evitar la tentación de improvisar un golpeteo irregular para darle ese toque más tribal. Podría ser una canción típica, de esas que evocan vestigios de algún ritual de iniciación ancestral, de aquellos hombres que salían a construir sus propias vidas transformándose, para volver renovados a su comunidad… o quizás mi imaginación es muy grande.

The son, the clan and the tree

At the end of this mix, I had the feeling of listening to a great choir of women, I visualized them sitting in a circle and braiding their long hair to each other while their voices rose joining infinite memories of other women repeating such a ritual in other times and perhaps even in other worlds. The most curious thing is that the voices of the original recording are male!

*In this track, I have used layered fragments, from three different songs from the monks' choir.

🇪🇸Al terminar esta mezcla, tuve la sensación de estar escuchando un gran coro de mujeres, las visualicé sentadas en círculo y trenzando sus largos cabellos unas a otras mientras se elevaban sus voces uniéndose a infinitas memorias de otras mujeres repitiendo tal ritual en otros tiempos y quizás hasta en otros mundos. Lo más curioso, que las voces de la grabación original son masculinas! 
*En este track, he usado fragmentos en capas, de tres canciones distintas del coro de monjes.

The new technologies applied to music and sound design have led him to experiment with greater freedom in the immense sound world, exploring the field of Biodata (biosonification), generative music and texture design, and electro-conductivity like this, the composition of songs where the fusion of styles is the primary premise that inspires him. Moving between the genres ambient, world, dowtempo, techno, soundscape and the experimental has found ways where to stay anchored in them, is not an option. Enjoy outdoor recording, and the creation of his own sound tools (noisebox) in his Lab-studio located in a mountain house in a small town in the Basque Country, in northern Spain. He has been part of artistic projects, performances, live music and has participated in educational events where the cimatica (form of sound), the frequencies and the relationship between life and them, have been the fundamental pillar.
