Catacombs of Utopolis — Opening — AZ Aachen 12.11.22

Friends, welcome to my EENGOMA techno mix series. EENGOMA is a popular African drum, present in various genres of music from the South of Africa all the way to the north. In my culture (AAWAMBO people from Namibia), men and women play EENGOMA at events of joy and festivity such as weddings, the birth of a child or when boys and girls come of age. This series is inspired by a specific video clip (https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cn9b4f3usMs/?igshid=MWI4MTIyMDE=) of a man playing EENGOMA at a wedding. It is believed that sometimes the spirits take over when the EENGOMA player strikes the right notes. This specific gentleman from Eendobe village in the North of Namibia, a very talented EENGOMA player is rumored to have been possessed by the spirits on this specific day. He is also most likely under the influence of a traditional alcohol beverage called ‘Ombike’, made from makalani fruits or wild berries. Ombike is also rumored to enhance the ability to play EENGOMA because it relaxes your body. If you observe this gentleman closely, his movements look random and chaotic, yet he strikes the drum with absolute precision. You can hear the crowd in awe of the music he is producing. When the EENGOMA player is this good, the men and women around him / her cannot help it but dance, chant, ululate and observe in absolute admiration. Those who know me will testify that, sometimes I get consumed by techno. As much as I love expressing my love for it through sets, I enjoy dancing to it just as much. This series is inspired by this very simple, groovy, sexy and raw sound of the EENGOMA music instrument.

Adversity is a powerful teacher that offers many lessons to every soul existing within the third dimension.  paul wishes to remind you that if you can persevere and keep moving forward whatever discomfort you are experiencing will come to an end as all things within this world are impermanent.

Chin up, shoulders back and eyes forward.  This is the way, one step at a time.
