 Following a successful string of sold-out national dates supporting ARIA award winning country artist, Fanny Lumsden, Mornington Shire alt country outfit, Hazel & The Thief announce their much-anticipated debut release, ‘The Olden Days’, available to stream from August 16th 2024.

‘The Olden Days’ is a nod to childhood nostalgia, when the days were long and carefree and filled with innocence. Lead singer & songwriter Hazel explains, “It’s about remembering those happy-go-lucky moments, when every day felt like an adventure and the world was our oyster. It’s also about cherishing those special childhood memories.” 

‘The Olden Days’ was produced by the star of ABC-TV’s ‘The Recording Studio’ - Matt Fell, a 9 times golden guitar winner and ARIA award winner who also lends his talents on guitar, bass, and keys. Joining them on the track is powerhouse rhythm section Josh Schuberth (drums) and Luke Moller (fiddle)– both seasoned musicians who have played on countless recordings including Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham, Adam Swift, Fanny Lumsden, Troy Cassar-Daley, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Missy Higgins and Lana Del Rey.

Produced in Matt’s home studio in Tasmania, HAZEL fell in love with the idea of ‘making music surrounded by nature’, venturing to the island state to finally put her lyrics into reality after many years of preparing for the right moment to tell her stories.

Since exploding on to the alt-country scene, HAZEL & The Thief have gone from strength to strength, showcasing their vibrant yet honest songwriting and gaining the attention of influential tastemakers and performing with the likes of Karise Eden, Sunday Lemonade, Weeping Willows, Charm of Finches & Ella Hooper.

Haleen is a realization of a Belgian husband and wife duo. They operate from an off-grid setting in Portugal and have created their own unique genre of music. Their sound is highly recognizable and their music is inspired by their energy shift and transformation of consciousness. Their music is mind-opening, hypnotic, and uplifting. Many listeners have reported that it has given them courage and improved their overall mood.

Hans's musical journey commenced at a very young age! After attending several rock concerts, he was inspired to take the stage himself and purchased his first electric guitar at the age of 15. Teaching himself to play, within just one year of dedicated practice, he confidently performed at his first gig. With countless hours spent daily playing, participating in various bands, performing at numerous festivals, and gaining extensive studio experience, Hans eventually underwent a transformative shift, bidding farewell to the metal scene and incorporating all he had learned into his musical arsenal.

Following this evolution, Hans delved into a different musical realm, strumming a new tune on an acoustic guitar and opting for a tuning of 432Hz instead of the conventional 440Hz. This marked the inception of a unique chapter where Kath, added her vocals to his compositions. Embracing electronic music, a genre he previously hadn't favored, Hans not only expanded his musical horizons but also crafted an entirely fresh sound—a genre unto itself.

In this captivating musical narrative, Hans emerges as an artist who not only mastered diverse genres but seamlessly blended them to create a symphony that transcends boundaries. The echoes of his journey linger in the distinctive and innovative notes of a genre uniquely his own.

Kath's musical journey may not boast a lengthy history, but it's a tale of profound transformation. With minimal musical exposure in her past, Kath underwent a radical overnight shift in her musical taste—from indulging in the greatest hits of mainstream artists across genres like Disco, Rock 'n' Roll, and Metal to immersing herself in the captivating realms of Electronic Dance Music.

Her musical evolution reflects a seismic change, transcending traditional boundaries and embracing a diverse array of sounds.
