Aalson – Daylight EP

After his recent remix of Deviu’s ‘Snow’ Ft. Mira Nait, French producer Aalson returns to Purified Records with his three - track ‘Daylight’ EP. The title track encapsulates the magic of daylight in sonic form, blending gentle instrumentation and glowing synths across flowing basslines. Moving into ‘Echoes Of Dawn’, nature samples are paired with breakbeat patterns
to achieve a poignant and touching atmosphere. Closing with ‘Dreamland’, Aalson builds a cinematic arrangement that fuses classical and contemporary elements to dramatic effect.

The ‘Daylight’ EP artwork showcases a magnif icent shot of a humpback whale gliding through the ocean. Humpback whales are known for their long migrations, traveling up to 16,000 miles annually between feeding and breeding grounds. These whales are also famous for their complex songs, which can last for hours and are thought to play a role in communication and

HMWL Premiere: Aalson - Daylight (Extended Mix) [Purified Records]

Clocking back in on Stil vor Talent, here goes Cioz with his newest delivery, 'These Accordi'. Taking its name from the Italian word for 'agreement' - which also stands for 'chords', the idea for the track actually came about when Alessandro's attention was caught by the sound of an asphalt paver in the street. He then sampled it and processed it to produce the bassline, which he says was "full of character and texture". On the conceptual side, Cioz explains the track aims to explore the balance between the notions of agreement and disagreement, an enslaving loop one needs to break out from to find this actual state of balance. The metronomic tension that animates 'These Accordi' throughout has the pendulum swinging sharp and clean, from proper jacking techno patterns to lithe EBM-ish bass music, onto liquid house hypnotism in the home stretch. Deftly shifting gears, from robotic jack to more organic layers and folds, Cioz has us traversing a wealth of moodscapes in one bumpy, elating jaunt. A further jagged and wonky number, 'Move On' treats us to a mix of heavily processed '80s style guitar riffs and stealth bass assault, echoing the dissonant pulse of 'Accordi' through a collage of static-filled wobbles, radical syncopations and FX-strewn solos to better explore the emancipatory nature of Cioz' lead theme: looping our way out of the girdling status quo.

To close out 2024, Dreaming Awake label boss Treavor Moontribe along with multi instrumentalist Evan Hatfield present their psychedelic epic nearly 10 minute deep journey track "Superluminal"! It's hard to put into words a proper description for this tune. It's such a hypnotic journey and so unique in that it has no consistent bass line or obvious arrangement, it just flows in a deeply trippy way. Evan's sitar brings it all together and the effects used on it take it from its Earth rooted vibe into deep space!

The original track Svadhishthana, created during the successful Chakra Boogie event series, was inspired by the creative chakra point. Once again, Peter Makto expands his musical catalog with a unique sound that cannot be categorized compared to his other tracks. The EP also includes remixes by the Zenebona titans Matthew Sona and Liozen. Both remixes were made in the signature style of these two young talents. These three tracks form a very strong unit.
