This is a re-recorded set after the festival I was part of.  The day of, I had recorded my set with video but unfortunately, the audio is distorted.  The (We Are) House Music Community Festival took place on July 12th and 13th, 2025, in the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago. Shawn Patrick Matney broke into the DJ scene in 1994 under the alias DJ Shawn Patrick, playing at Durango Colorado's San Juan Room and eventually at Steamworks Brewing Company in 1996. Soon after Shawn performed at the Anaheim (CA) Convention Center for an event covered by Fox Sports Broadcasting for Drive Snowboards. In 2002 Shawn played at Club Freedom in Phoenix AZ. Back in Durango, Shawn played numerous DJ sets at Steamworks, Moe's, the Abbey Theater,  Purgatory Ski Resort and The Summit under the alias Spark Madden. Spark Madden moved to Denver in 2011 and he played at Sunday Funday @ Meadowlark and he held down a weekly gig at Opal  while playing several underground warehouse parties on the side. Upon returning to Durango Shawn played at multiple Lunar Bass events and he played after Jon Bishop in 2010. In 2012-2015, Spark Madden added The Balcony Backstage & The Animas City Theater (ACT) to his list of venues and in 2015 he opened for GAUDI ft. Danny Ladwa (LONDON, U.K) at the latter. Spark Madden returned to Denver in 2016 to play Sunday Funday @ The Tre3Hau5 with 41 other DJ's. In 2017 he played at the ACT for Pride Durango, The El Rancho Tavern and at The Taste of Durango. Most recently, Shawn played at the River Of Souls Music Festival at Tico Time in Aztec NM alongside house music powerhouses Dj Tennis and Tara Brooks. Catch Shawn at his current residency at 11th St Station in Durango that's he's been holding down for 4 years strong. In 2023 opening The Crystal Method.

A regular fixture in his native Cork city's underground scene for over 20 years his sets encompass everything from tripped-out house & techno to electro, breaks & minimal seamlessly connecting the dots between old and new.. ever evolving and always digging!

Bought my first Kam belt drive record decks in 1998, and started DJ-ing shortly around Cork City and County as well as getting a slot on local stations Kiss FM, NRG FM, Klub FM and a few shows on the legendary Radio Friendly. Genres at the time- trance, house and hard-house. Also started using Acid Pro to make my own edits and mashups.

Having been retired from the DJ-ing game since 2006, Ableton Live filled the void as I started to learn to produce tracks.

Now...
In 2019, I picked up my first midi controller, a Pioneer SB3 with Serato Pro and started putting new set mixes on mixcloud.

Currently, I'm putting out bootlegs and mashups using Ableton as a kind of learning curve to making original tracks.

Short term goal - 2k+ followers. DONE!
Long term goal - get something signed! DONE!
New goals incoming, roll on 2023!
