The brilliant Doctor's return to form did not go as he anticipated it would. Siphoning everyone's memories of him at one of the most terrifying moments they've had with him lead him to rebuilding himself not quite how he was, but how he believes everyone sees him: a cruel, merciless being who would stop at nothing to be whole again.

Throughout the first phase of the battle against Dr. Gaster, Kris must, slowly but surely, dismantle the ideas the Doctor has gotten about himself.

With help of the monsters whose SOULs were absorbed, Kris tries to rekindle the better memories they all have of Dr. Gaster to help him rebuild himself the way he truly was, rather than as the demonic misrepresentation of him and his mistakes.
