Roger Martinez's Higher States rounds out the summer season by welcoming EANP to the label for their debut EP. Having worked together since 2014, it wasn't until 2018 that Buenos Aires residents Ezequiel Anile and Nicolas Petracca decided to coin the EANP alias for their collaborative efforts. Now firmly established, the moniker has become synonymous with quality club-effective progressive house, complete with a techy flair. Continued support from genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, along with key releases for Balance Music, Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers and Replug have made the Argentinean duo a much in-demand act. Currently operating at their most prolific and creative to date, the beloved duo now add Higher States to their resume with a three-track showcase 'Hypersonic'.

Already in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo, it is ‘Hypersonic’ which leads the release off. Complete with many of the duo’s beloved production hallmarks, it’s a stripped down slow-burning groove which sets the pace for intriguing vocal samples, hopeful pads and uniquely polished percussion to create a timeless storyboard. Acid stabs steal the air, adding dynamic swing to the groove, while an array of orbiting effects perfectly prelude a heartfelt break, one where wispy sonics and decayed vocals build anticipation for a stomped-out finale, one that is sure to resonate across dancefloors for the remainder of the summer season.

Selection two ‘Hypnotica’ continues the duo’s dancefloor minded approach and complements its predecessor perfectly. With a tough percussive framework. EANP’s craftsmanship reveals itself across the expansive journey, one where techno-inspired beats and low-slung bass lines get peppered with skittering rhythms, glitched-out electronics and carefully placed atmospheric refrains.

The duo’s distinct aesthetic continues on the third and final selection ‘No Input’. Perhaps the most direct composition on the EP, its eight-minute running time quickly sets you adrift in a techno-inspired wasteland of retro-sonics and granular textures. Both intimate and wide-ranging, it's a trance-inducing break which engulfs your attention whole, creating a ceremonial backdrop for misty glitches and fog-like swells to paint a scenic storyboard onwards to a rejuvenating finale.

About Juan Barrera:

Argentinian DJ and producer Juan Barrera has been making waves in the progressive house scene since his early beginnings in Córdoba. His journey as a DJ began in 2016, and since then, Barrera has been captivating audiences with his dynamic sets that skilfully blend progressive, melodic, and deep house tones. Drawing inspiration from legendary artists such as Hernán Cattaneo, John Digweed, Sasha, and Nick Warren, Barrera’s sound is defined by its grooved, melodic textures, seamlessly adapting to the energy of any venue.

In 2018, Barrera took his passion for electronic music to the next level by diving into production. By February 2022, he marked his official debut with the release of his first EP on "We Are The Underground." The project featured the standout track "Greta," a collaborative effort with acclaimed DJ and producer Cesar Lombardi. The momentum continued in 2024 with the release of his "Griffin Door" EP, a collaboration with B.I.G (AR) on the esteemed label AH Digital. This release featured remixes by Leandro Murua and Andres Moris, with the latter receiving support from progressive house icon Guy J.

Throughout 2024, Barrera's trajectory soared as he expanded his catalog to include collaborations with B.I.G (AR) on respected labels Mango Alley and Univack. His presence on labels like AH Digital, Moussaieff Records, Balkan Connection South America, and Urban Life Music further solidifies his standing in the global progressive house community.

Barrera's talents have not gone unnoticed on the local circuit either. He has shared the stage with prominent Argentine DJs such as Matías Chilano, Ivan Aliaga, Christopher Erre, Agustin Pietrocola, and Marce del Boca, among others. His performance alongside international DJ Forty Cats, where he had the honour of warming up the booth, is a testament to his growing reputation.

Now based in Córdoba’s capital city, Barrera continues to perform at clubs across the local scene, all while dedicating himself to creating fresh, innovative productions that push the boundaries of progressive house. His commitment to both the art of DJing and production makes Juan Barrera a name to watch in the evolving landscape of electronic music.

About DMTRV:

Andrew Dmitriev, known as DMTRV, was born in Russia in the city of Omsk. During his school years, his musical taste was greatly influenced by such bands and musicians as Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Basemant Jaxx and many others. Since the early 2000s, he began to immerse himself in the world of electronic music and his love for it prompted a strong desire to take up DJing. Andrew began his career as a DJ in 2010. During this time, he tried himself in various styles of electronic dance music and played in many clubs in the city of Omsk. And finally, in 2020, he found himself in the Progressive House style and began to develop in this style and promote it to the masses. Since 2024, Andrey has been developing in this style and is promoting it in Moscow.

Roger Martinez's Higher States opens the fall season by welcoming Digital Mess to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Russia, Digital Mess has been a fixture of the progressive house scene for the better part of two decades. The Tver resident first rose to prominence with a string of early projects for System Recordings, where he established a dark, cutting edge production style that made him a name to watch going forward. With an enthusiastic attitude towards experimentation, coupled with extraordinary creative vision, the next decade-plus would see Digital Mess continue to refine his sound, always remaining club-effective with standout releases via Constellation Music, Mango Alley and WARPP. Now, fresh off well-received remixes for Manual Music and UV, Digital Mess adds Higher States to his resume with ‘Moonbeam / Thunder Sighs'.

Beginning with ‘Moonbeam', Digital Mess showcases a peak time approach which sets the tone for the EP. Full of dark textures and cutting edge design qualities, the Russian artist smoothly blends punchy kick drums and tough undulating grooves, with fragmented synth mutations and rolling rhythmic structures for an exhilarating journey into the break. Further revealing his creative attitude across the interlude, it's a field of misty effects and percolating arps which marry beautifully for a healthy dose of melodic tension, before a wave of drums cues a bass-driven drop and uplifting finale.

Rounding out the release are the mesmerizing sounds of 'Thunder Sighs'. Tight, compact and bursting with mysterious energies, the track's first movement is built around punchy grooves, granular stabs and hook-heavy synths, the latter of which carries a hip-swinging energy into the break. The narrative continues to progress across interlude, with trance-inducing pads casting a hopeful tone, before eventually revealing a flurry of drums which pushes onwards to a finale that is equal parts groove-centric and cosmic to round out the EP in style.

BFSN (aka Biffson) is a Swiss DJ from Bern, specializing in progressive house and melodic/organic house since 2011. Since 2019, his guest mixes have gained recognition, leading to success in a DJ competition hosted by the renowned UK label and radio station Saturo Sounds. Hello and welcome to the start of the next cycle of Mind Therapy Invites shows.

I'm really excited to start this project again, and I'm pleased to welcome brainbow to the first episode in this iteration of the guest mixes. He has provided an excellent mix, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. He's been djing for about 6 months, and has done a few live shows. His club debut is happening at Altered in Birmingham on the 31st May, and he has got a few other live sets on the way as well.

Track of the episode for me was Cendryma - Effective loss. What a fantastic track that is, and the cheeky throwback at the end is the rather excellent remix by Simon Doty of La Roux's in for the kill (I was lucky to hear him play it at Fabric when he was doing the B2B with marsh, it went off!)

Mind Therapy Radio Invites... Brainbow (MTR 102)

Dialectics (n.) – The art of investigating or discussing the truth of opinions. The discourse between two people holding opposing viewpoints view but trying to establish a common truth through reasoned discussion.

Born out of the renowned, best-selling Yin : Yang label concept, musical discourse is brought to life through the meticulous choices of Tripp Baronner – DJ, curator and full-time member of the Proton team. Presenting “Dialectics,” a monthly show airs on Proton Radio and DI.fm showcasing the finest underground music talent in two contrasting but inextricably linked hours.

Part 1 sees Yin thematically represented while Yang is juxtaposed through Part 2. Intimately interconnected while fluid by design, resident hosts alternate and interchange with guest artists to create a dynamic dialectical discourse.

Yin and Yang (n.) - the concept of duality forming a whole. A fundamental premise in Chinese philosophy now transposed to the electronic dance industry through the creation of Proton "Editions". Through encyclopaedic knowledge of the 4,000+ strong Proton roster of labels Tripp Baronner has envisioned a new concept of the principle of seemingly polar opposites, coming together as interconnected and independent universal forces - life and death, the dark and the light: one complete entity. 

From a passion for underground progressive house at opposite ends of the audio spectrum - the deep, shadowy atmospheres to the blissful, shimmering melodies, "Yin" and "Yang" were born in an effort to represent this phenomenon in musical form. Each release will provide a single remix of an existing Proton roster track for two inextricably linked labels in the form of a light (Yang) and dark (Yin) edition. Released on the same day, a strong contrast in styles will thus serve to complement each other and nourish the whole.

Dj ENIGMAT (CA) has been leaving his mark through the Montreal underground scene for the past 7 years. His passion: building emotional stories composed of Organic House, Progressive House and Melodic Techno. His motto : “Resonate in Every Vibe”.

Italian label Loose Records was established by Mario Manganelli and Rino Cerrone (who also run Rilis and Unrilis) in 2006 as an outlet for inventive, underground techno with a fresh perspective. 
Rino himself has long been a bastion of the Neapolitan techno scene, whilst Mario, too, has been promoting nights, running clubs and unearthing techno talents ever since the 1990s. 
Together the pair has a great understanding and has managed to mix up established talents with bright new comers, making the label a go to place for fans of proper techno.  Releasing both club ready EPs and full length artist albums in vinyl and digital format.

The home of Paul BTW and Mind Therapy Radio.

I started my electronic musical journey in 2008. I used to run a radio show first on EM Radio, and then on Trance Energy Radio that used to showcase the latest in Tech, uplifting, and emotional trance.

Over the years I have moved to a more progressive sound, and during the first lockdown I started a Podcast called Mind Therapy Radio which is dedicated to progressive trance, and the deeper side of electronic music. I have played a number of live shows at Anjunalounge in Birmingham, as part of their DJ showcase evenings, and more recently with Craig O'Brien aka OBZ under our Progressive Sessions Project.

I made my club debut at the Hare & Hounds in Birmingham in August 24. I had a great time, and am looking forward to doing more.
