Farmers stepped up their protests this week, bringing two cows to The Hague to illustrate the effect of the government's nitrogen reduction plans. One cow would go to the slaughterhouse today, the other would go back to the farm to be slaughtered later. Police described the hardliners' approach as a threat to democracy as CDA MP Derk Boswijk was forced to stay home after his family was visited by a fleet of tractors. Hard-hitting tactics were also favoured by jewel thieves who raided the Tefaf art fair in Maastricht using a sledgehammer. It's not just farmers who have an axe to grind: family doctors held a demonstration on the Malieveld to protest against long hours and bureaucracy. Mark Rutte breaks his silence on the farmers but says it's the wrong time to…

Dutch producer and DJ Poko poko pushes an eclectic house and disco sound that oozes charisma, funk, soul, colour and good energy. Releasing on acclaimed imprints like Monologues Records, Feedasoul, House Cookin’ and Tomorrow Is Now Kid! He’s building a very impressive catalogue and a global fanbase with it.
 
His name comes from the Italian musical direction Poco a poco – ‘little by little’. “I’ve always felt strongly related to that term and used it a lot when the world around me felt like moving too fast” he says. “This project should be a life’s work and should evolve over time. Wherever it goes or takes me. No pressure, no obligations, just a way of living.” And so it has gone in his freewheeling journey as Poko poko so far, building up his production output and finding increasing success on quality house music labels, as well as some free downloads given away by the likes of Eton Messy and successful edits released to world wide acclaim.

Often to be found spreading his musical gospel in clubs in the Southern side of the Netherlands, he also sounds out musical missives from his @atmym radio show. “It can vary from long-lost funk and disco treasures to early ‘90s Chicago or acid house and from slick mid-tempo West Coast boogie and late ‘70s soul steppers to new wave or psychedelic rock and back to techno and electro again. I like catchy, snappy and quirky stuff, so if there’s a common theme which runs through my style as a DJ, it must be that.”

Tickets is the solo project of Josef-Ashton Summs from Cape Town/ South Africa, currently residing in Germany. He has been a part of Timecode Records since his early days and is also working together with his brother Ian (Phyx) as Brethren and with his friend Till (Daksinamurti) as “Android Spirit”. Besides these projects he has been working on many collaborations with various artists within the scene such as Shift, Hujaboy, Abomination, Earworm, Distant Touch, Terrafractyl among others. Since he started in 2002 Josef can look back to over 100 releases on various compilations on labels like Timecode, Beyond Logic, Nexus-Media, Spectral, Crystal Matrix and others, including, 2 albums and a compilation.
His main musical influence comes from his education in royal schools of London classical music theory. Music opened another side of Josef’s imagination and he soon materialized his ideas in the sounds he is producing till today. So far Tickets has performed worldwide, in many countries such as Japan, Belgium, Finland, USA, France, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Mexico, Austria, Netherlands, Sweden and South Africa for festivals like Boom (Portugal), Alien Safari, Vortex, Fullmoon Festival, etc. The next album of the maestro can be expected in 2015.
