Hear the Fallen (Hollow Knight Song)

This project was created as my final assignment for a music composition course taught by Jason Graves. We were given the choice to re-score one of three games—Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Hollow Knight, or Red Dead Redemption 2—and I chose Hollow Knight, because the aesthetic and gameplay stood out to me (I'm a huge sucker for side-scrollers as I grew up on Maple Story).

What's unique about this project? I had never played Hollow Knight nor had I listened to its original soundtrack before starting this composition. I was given a silent video of the game, and I let the visuals inspire a completely original score. This medley (comprised of menu, exploration, high tension music, as well as stingers) is my interpretation—a reimagined soundscape that aims to capture the mysterious and haunting beauty of this world.

For April Fools Day, I thought I would pull a reverse, reverse big brain play by making an unironic remix of The Grimm Troupe, mixing it with Fairytale from Alexander Rybak (because it came up as a joke in a conversation, that's why it's an April Fools Day Video).

Eu sempre quis saber se conseguia fazer algo no estilo das composições do Christopher Larkin pra Hollow Knight, um dos meus jogos favoritos de todos os tempos, e essa foi a minha tentativa!

After finishing my latest album, I took a break to study more music theory in games, series, and other things in general. I always wondered if I could do something in the style of Christopher Larkin's compositions for Hollow Knight, one of my favorite games of all time, and this was my attempt at it!
