Cookie The Herbalist just released his uplifting new single, "Break Free",
on December 13, 2024. Produced by Sam Gilly at the acclaimed House of Riddim studio in Austria, the track is part of a special 20th Anniversary release series celebrating the legendary reggae label.
 
A Call for Empowerment and Change
With its signature modern roots reggae sound, "Break Free" speaks to universal themes of overcoming adversity, self-empowerment, and rising above the obstacles that life presents. The song's anthemic chorus — “Live your life now, break free, step out of captivity” — calls on listeners to break free from societal and mental constraints and embrace their full potential.
 
Celebrating 20 Years of House of Riddim
This release marks a special milestone for House of Riddim, as it is part of their 20th Anniversary Series. For two decades, the label has been at the forefront of reggae music, producing timeless hits for top-tier artists and promoting conscious, empowering music worldwide. Sam Gilly, who is known for his work with reggae greats, brings his seasoned touch to "Break Free", producing a track that combines the authentic sounds of roots reggae with a modern, vibrant energy.
 
Supporting Education in Jamaica
In an effort to give back, Cookie The Herbalist & House Of Riddim partnered with Help Jamaica, an organization dedicated to improving education in Jamaica through the construction of libraries and schools. The  stream and download revenues generated from "Break Free" will go directly to funding the creation of educational spaces that empower Jamaican youth. "Education is the key to unlocking potential", says Cookie. "By supporting Help Jamaica, we are investing in the future of the youth, giving them the tools they need to break free from cycles of poverty and limitation."

Break Free

Cookie The Herbalist's musical journey began at a very young age singing in a church choir in Italy. At a still tender age he found his love for reggae music thanks to his parents vynil records collection. After making his first real musical steps as a teenager singing mainly Reggae choruses for various Swiss Rap crews (Cookie's family moved to Switzerland when he was about 8 years old) and mc'eing for local soundsystems. In 2007 Cookie had the oppurtunity to be the support act on Jah Mason's Europe tour and so he appeared at the Rototom Sunsplash in Italy (Europes biggest Reggae festival, now held in Spain), at the Rumble Reggae Festival in Germany etc. In 2008 Cookie got his first bigger radio airplay with the song 'Don't You Tell Me' on Rootdown Records 'I Love-Riddim'. This was the start to his still continuous presence in the Swiss radio playlists. Also in 2008 the young artist released his first official EP 'The Good Weed', containing riddims by European Reggae Giants like House Of Riddim and the Ganglords. 'Cyaan Stop' a combination with Cali P made it into Red Bull and Salomon's 'Every Day Is A Saturday' Freestyle Ski movie and got large international attention. In the following years Cookie opened shows and shared stage for/with superstars like Ziggy Marley, Julian Marley, Nas & Damian Marley, Jah Mason, U-Brown, Fantan Mojah, Junior Kelly, Lee Perry, Sizzla Kalonji and many more. In 2009 Cookie was to be heard on riddims from different international producers such as Weedy G and African Beat to name a few. After countless shows and studio sessions, Cookie's debut album 'Like A Tree' was finally released in 2010. Its first single release 'A Girl Like You' alongside the charming Jamaican singer Sophia Squire dropped like a bomb and got large airplay on Switzerlands biggest radio DRS3 (now SRF3) and other European radios, so after just a of couple days it turned to a summer hit. 'Like A Tree'  was a full success and kept Cookie tourning all over Switzerland, Austria and Germany etc. over two years with more than 120 shows in this short time. In late 2012 his second album 'Stand Tall' got released, once more showing a big improvement of the promising artist. The album also offers great combinations with big stars of the genre like Luciano, Sizzla Kalonji, Prezident Brown and U-Brown. 'Stand Tall' is another outstanding piece of music. From little Switzerland but with huge international flavor. After a next successful tour and many more single- and video releases Cookie visited Jamaica again early 2014 where, while spending some time at Inspired Production Studios in Kingston, some great new tunes got produced. One of these 'I Wish', a very melodic song with an uplifting message and a very nice video clip accompanying it. Returning to Switzerland and after some visits to London and other European cities, still writing and recording new songs for heavy weight producers like Weedy G, Inspired, JR. Blender, Boomrush and others, once more he flew to Jamaica his favorite place to be, where he kept on working on new material such as a still to be released song featuring legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Now Cookie is planning the production of his third album and looking for professional and motivated new buisiness partners to support him on his musical path. This singjay can't be stopped and is on his way to conquer the globe with his sound.

At the age of 15, Jörg Söls, better known as Dj Koolbreak started doing his thing as a dj. In 2004 he became a member of G-Spot Sound, one of austrias biggest reggae and dancehall soundsystems. Since than he is rocking clubs weekly and he is famous for his mixtapes and remixes. When you ask Koolbreak about the most important thing when you are at the Party, his answer is always the same: „It is all about the vibes“. And this is what you can expect when you hear Koolbreak play! Vibes!
