Bit of a noisy one. Sampling The Amber Spyglass mp3 audiobook ["..I Balthamos, listener of lives, recording angel.. - https://hisdarkmaterials.fandom.com/wiki/Balthamos], in about 2003. Breakbeats created on the old Amiga 1200, but the track was pieced together in Acid Pro DAW on Windows. This bassline "blew up" a soundsystem once... Well, the electricity got cut off somehow; I was DJing my own tunes, as a support to some local bands. Halfway through, the sound goes dead... I'm thinking I'd broken the whole gig, and the main band would be very upset with me. But the sound engineer got the electric supply stored pretty quick [sorry, Owen!].
The version here is a bit of a remix of the original - added some filter sweeps on the Master mix, using Linux Audio software many years later. There is also one sample from the vocals of a band I had with mates [the band were called The Madusa Komplex, we only got as far as MySpace..!]

Other samples here are a little bit of "O Superman" by Laurie Anderson; it's a bit buried in the mix. There is also a little bit of guitar by the band Low - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_(band) - can't remember which track I sampled now though!

To be honest, I'd given up on Soundcloud for a long while, but I've returned to it in 2022 and it seems to be much improved. Also, maybe I never quite appreciated it in the first place. It's one of those things that is too hard to comprehend the scale/size/quality of, so you need to spend time with it to get the most out of it. It's certainly great when you connect with someone new etc, or discover their music etc.
