S Olbricht returns with a compact, intense dive into jungle and drum & bass atmospheres. “be a lamb” shines with WeAreGloria’s ethereal voice, while “Transmitting Data Over Long Distances (S Olbricht VIP)” (originally out on Dalmata Daniel, co-written with Yinna) explores dub-style textures and expanded rhythmic complexity.

In this episode of The Language of Power, Paul Taylor, Senior Visiting Fellow at the European Policy Centre, explores the dangers facing liberal democracy within the European Union and what can be done to counter them.

Last week, we examined the global assault on democracy – from socio-economic and technological forces driving public alienation to the rise of a new authoritarianism, with a few bright spots of democratic renewal. This episode turns the lens to Europe, where “illiberal democracy,” a term coined by Fareed Zakaria in 1997 and later embraced by Viktor Orbán, has spread from Hungary to Poland, Slovakia and EU-candidate Serbia. Elected governments have used majorities to weaken judicial independence, capture media, and roll back women’s and LGBTQ+ rights.

Joining Paul to discuss how these trends are reshaping European politics – and how liberal democracy can be defended – are distinguished Professor of Political Science Brigid Laffan and Liza Saris, Policy Analyst and Project Manager of the EPC’s Connecting Europe initiative.

The Language of Power: Liberal democracy under threat in the EU

Crisis Records returns after a five-year hiatus with Archives EP, a new release from Imre Kiss and Norwell. Recorded between 2015 and 2020, the tracks mark the duo's first collaboration since their acclaimed Ad Astra EP seven years ago.

Across the EP, Norwell's sparkling arpeggios sit comfortably alongside Imre's atmospheric pads. The sharp, metallic drum programming anchors the tracks with cold, rhythmic precision, while rich basslines, occasional squelching acid, and eerie vocal samples create a captivating, hypnotic atmosphere.

There is a strong sense of nostalgia throughout, with hints of Kraftwerk and Detroit's Drexciya woven into the sound, yet the pair still manages to craft something that feels distinctly their own.

Hungarian Underground Hip-Hop Special 2., 2025 (magyar underground hip-hop mix)

Korode's sound is built on syncopated, groove-driven rhythms and prominent bass work. Drawing influence from a wide range of underground music and cinema, his tracks strike a balance between unpredictable sound design and evolving instrument progressions. His production ranges from dark and gritty to melodic and uplifting, but his core goal is always focused on moving the dancefloor.

The upcoming Rise EP was directly inspired by his trip to Budapest, where he performed at the Macrocell 140 Budapest Vol 2 launch party. Following such a memorable event, it was only fitting to dedicate an EP to the experience and release it with the label.
