Yet, this is a stage of life that impacts both women and the men in their lives. One study found that 73% of women blame menopause for their marriage breakdown.

In this slightly longer Five-Minute Quickie, we’re digging into one of the sneakiest, most stubborn beliefs so many of us carry around: “I’m not good enough.” Where did it come from? Why does it stick? And how do we uncover what’s really underneath it? This FMQ is all about preparing you for the deeper dive coming in the next longer episode, where I’ll be guiding you through a process to change this belief for good. But first, we need a seed — a direction — so when we get there, your unconscious mind is already lined up and ready to shift. What We Explore Today   How “I’m not good enough” often starts with something very specific.   Why a general belief always has a more personal root underneath it.   The types of life experiences where this message gets planted.   How your unconscious mind tries (clumsily!) to protect you with limiting beliefs. Some mannerisms are just... really bro-coded, you know? They're like an advertisement (a Chadvertisement? no...) to a dude's bro identity.

"A mannerism, you see, is a habitual gesture in the way we speak or behave. 

And mannerisms are very powerful. They act as a communication to others; because our mannerisms tell people a lot about us. And they tell us, about ourselves too. The brain… the nervous system, is always watching how we act, and speak, especially about ourselves. And it is constantly evaluating; our safety, and our sense of comfort, in seeing how we act.

So our mannerisms actually reinforce our identity. By subcommunicating, to that watching eye… who we are, and who it thinks we want to be.

And when you think about it - when you can think again, I know you agree that we evaluate others by their mannerisms, the same way. Even if only unconsciously, that same way you listen.

We evaluate how confident people are… how secure, how together, how comfortable with themselves… by many aspects of their presentation. Including their mannerisms. 

Have you ever met somebody and just felt a bit… off about them, a little uncomfortable, before they’d even opened their mouth? Before you knew anything about them? Perhaps that was because of their mannerisms; perhaps they looked shifty… closed-off… afraid, or maybe aggressive…? 

And on the flipside, when you think about the kind of guy who’s become the centre of attention, the bright light every moth is drawn to; aren’t his mannerisms quite the opposite? 

Open. Broad. A man who takes up space, unafraid to; and there’s something hot about it, too, the way a man like that… dominates the space he’s in. 

That’s why people say posture can be hot! It seems silly - but it’s very true. Body language is a rich communication all on its own…"

A personal look at me:
 
The above sentence was not always the case and being the best in the financial realms of the building industry was my aim and getting there by any means. I now know this is, and was, the worst way ~ even if I did make director of one of the largest building companies in Cambridge by the age of 30.
 
One of the major realisations came on my first ever training in hypnosis. I found that it’s not a win lose world and that a win win is only a low basis to live.
 
Being true to your beliefs and coming from a place of integrity where service is paramount. This understanding together with lots of NLP skills helped create my last partnership in the building industry grow from a turnover of £800k to £16m in less than twelve years and that can only be done with giving more than expected.
 
Another shaping of me came from two traumatic events in my life that happened within six months of each other which created a number of major changes in me and by beliefs in what is possible. I have written about my experience and how I dealt with it but more importantly it really showed me my love for my three boys and theirs for me and resulted in the step up to become a trainer of NLP (which I never intended) and my close and exciting work with two of my sons. In supporting Joseph and help create change in people in our training’s and his wonderful life changing ‘Be your potential weekend’ and with Luke the continuing development of Cambridge Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis processes. My relationship with my third son Daniel just keeps getting better and better too.
 
Not knowing how good I had become in change work in the beginning I generally studied, practiced and saw clients then things started to happen when I started to work following just my instincts. Two clients come to mind both in effect dying from the effects of what was happening to them and the way they felt and within one and two sessions respectively not only won the will to live they changed virtually in front of my eyes and being apart of that process was and is the best feeling alive.
 
The above are just three of many brilliant learnings I have had in my life.
