Doing beats/making music has been my life since I was a kid and I have taken the time to learn how to read and write music and played by ear at first before I took classes to learn more how to play pieces and how to compose my own work. In this new day and age of the indie music making scene, I have been struggling to find my place since the majority wants to be seen today so what was once unique has kind of lost its value to me since I came across beatmaking on my own no one showed me or told me about the craft. I had my influences, but I just fell in love with creating my own music. I have done electronic, hiphop, jazz, classical, country, any genre you could think of, along with using sound effects when I thought it was unique and now I have had to step back in tune with myself now and why I made music in the first place to never lose myself in this new indie music community where the physical appearance/connections and hoping for overnight/mainstream success and chasing people for validation/collabs mean more than the art and talent of making the music. I have suffered a little bit of an identity crisis because if anyone can make beats today using ai or loops, what does that mean for the real musicians who have taken years to hone their craft while the new just know how to promote right and that every device now comes with a DAW app and distribution deals are everywhere, but where is the originality anymore and when will the independent music scene be about the music again not who you know or how attractive you are? So I'm going back to my electronic/techno roots with this one to remember to make music fun again. Every melody and every drum beat you hear is all me in Cubasis using my midi keyboard and my beat pad that my husband bought me to help me continue to grow musically since he's an audio engineer/music composer too that I met in music theory class in college 2015 and has been my best friend on this journey! And this beat is for anyone else going through an identity crisis in anything that you do you are not alone.

Hello and welcome! My name is Selena aka Kanahala born April 16th, 1992 I'm Puerto Rican, French Canadian, and Black and I'm just here doing what I love which is composing emotional high-quality music/making beats in every genre for anyone that may need to hear some inspiring and original music there's something for everyone no matter the genre I make music in all🎶 I have added an orca to my brand due to me trying to make killer beats and also just what orcas stand for which is strength, community, family, wisdom, protection, and resilience and I feel a connection to them and also loved the ocean growing up and nature. They are misunderstood and I could relate with them. If I could make enough money making music I would like to be able to help marine life and the orcas. I've been doing music for over 15 years now and grew up listening to all genres rock/industrial being my personal fave, and I'm still learning more production techniques! I learned how to play guitar and piano when I was a kid and in middle school I learned how to sing as well as learned how to play the drums and used Pocketband first in 2010 to upload and create beats then came here since this was another place to showcase my music and being indie, I could have the freedom to post my music and my creative processes. I used to show what I look like, but because I didn't like the unwanted attention I decided to recreate my brand that just focuses on my artistic abilities. We are called to care about our church community (to help one another move from where we are to where God wants us to be), about our communication of Christ (to tell good news to church and city, Christian or not), and about our city (to show how God’s forgiveness radically changes a person from the inside out).

It all started with a dog named Eddie — a scruffy little guy kids swore looked like a real-life teddy bear. When he passed in 2020, I brought his spirit back as a 3D bear: playful, honest, and the other half of me.

In A Teddy Named Eddie, we tell true stories from my life through pop punk riffs, alt rock hooks, and early 2000s nostalgia. Sometimes I’m in his world; sometimes he’s in mine. Always cinematic, always full of heart, and always a little magical.
