Today we listen a selection by Oscar Goldman aka Defunkt Dialekt. An artist who is characterised by a variety of styles and an unconventional approach to making music.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- Hard question to answer, most possibly it's Steve Albini.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I rarely plan with other labels, most probably I will make some music to put on soundcloud for free or cut the vinyl myself for a short run release to sell via Instagram or email.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I don't listen to electronic music often so I don't have a good answer, my everyday listening is more punk/noise/garage rock, I like Michael Valentine West tho and Valance Drakes always has a nice vibe, recently I like Drasko V for the sound design and TCA records (Yu-Miyashita).

What inspires you now to create music?

- Inspiration comes from experimentation, anything unusual, some sounds I have not heard before, I have a few styles of music I make, with electro I have to follow certain rules and I try to break them, if it still sounds good when broken then that inspires me to make the rest of the song.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- VCV rack and guitar effects, some modular and Reaktor from NI, I like Bitwig for experiments, I use portable recorder and record stuff when I go to the city or forest, for sure I use when I travel some distance.

Sigma_ALgebra is a project that was born more than 10 years ago. The original idea of this project was based on having a good time and enjoying the creation of music that does not set boundaries or rules in its composition. The learning process has been sculpting a style that aims to stretch the electro style and sometimes to the borders of IDM.

Which artists has influenced you the most? 

- The artists that have influenced me the most are Boards of Canada, Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Plastikman, Autechre, Plaid among others. Also, from rock music, Ten years after, Led Zepelin, Allman brothers or Frank Zappa.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 

- I am currently involved in several projects. I will participate in a multi-artist campaign on the Urban Concetions label dedicated to artists producing in the south of Spain. Additionally, I am involved in a split of artists from the Arkada label. I have a future project on the Tensor Norm label to produce another varied artist. I'm finally making a new ep with no label so far.

Which labels is more relevant to you now? 

- On my opinion, and always related with my own taste, Pyramid transmissions, Arkada, ,Science Cult, Brokntoys, Mechatronica, Digital Distortions and the Spanish labels Mikron records, Analogical Force and Urban Connections. 
Nowadays, the most relevant artist for me are Karsten Pflum, Noumen, Ben Pest, Anodyne, ADJ, among others.

What inspires you now to create music? 

- Knowing that perhaps there is an audience that may be somewhat interested in my music and on the other hand contribute and feed the electro and IDM scene.

What set-up do you use when creating music? 

- When I create music, I usually use two Elektron devices (Analog Rythm MKII and Octatrack MKII), Roland TB3 and finally Korg Monologue with some plugins of Arturia.
