In honour of marking 60 years of the Bristol Bus Boycott, First Bus have launched Drive For Change.

Over the coming months, Drive For Change will celebrate the purpose of the protest, the people who led it and the progress made since it defeated the colour bar.  This openly racist policy that discriminated against employing Blacks and Asians was defeated on the same day that Martin Luther King had a Dream. Its victory also led to the creation of the Race Relations Act 1965.

As part of empowering and educating the passengers, whilst travelling on the bus they will be able to listen to a series of short ads and vox pops. These diverse sets of voices include those who led, marched and benefited from the Bristol Bus Boycott.


As part of the Drive For Change campaign there is also an open public design competition to wrap double-decker buses with the winner travelling  free for a year. To enter by midnight June 9th or for more info go to www.FirstBus.co.uk/DriveForChange. You can also pick up paper entry forms from the Travel Hub in the Bus Station. And if you do visit  the station whilst you're there do check out the Bristol Bus Boycott plaque.

MISTER D, International DJ and producer was born in Coimbra(Portugal) and he's assumed the art of deejaying twenty years ago.
Designated as a international DJ that fills up any dancefloor wherever he passes by, he's distinguished by a feminine, sexy, energetic and sensual sound that characterizes him. A sound that nobody stay indifferent to! Behind the cabin, with his energetic and highly contagious spirit, MISTER D communicates with everyone on the dancefloor that finds in him a different and unusual feeling, unique in the worldwide dance scene.
With an adaptable and diverse music styles to please each dancefloor that he encounters, it's in House Music and Deep house that he identifies himself with more intensity, having also other references such as House Tribal, Underground, Afro house, House pumpin, Funky house and Nu Disco.
His hight quality work, and the many gigs that he have in the best and prestígious discos and clubs of Portugal, Switzerland, and others countries, where hundreds of people enjoy his sounds, makes is name a mark in the art of deejaying. A Bristol born and based creative activist or better still a Creativist, Julz is an agitator and a facilitator for positive social change. Passionate about igniting peoples imaginations, Julz achieves this through curious adventures in the creative arts, media and through small to large scale cultural events. More affectionately known as The Mistri, I use my radio show to  champion local causes, issues and talents, so do enjoy the various pod-casts that have been aired on Ujima 98FM Bristol's no1 urban radio station. 

Flamingeaux was raised in New Orleans, but the DJ was born in Miami. When the sounds of electronic dance music entered his ears, and he experienced the energy that a great house music set can bring to a crowd, he was hooked. Through his love of the music and the gathering that ensues, Flamingeaux has developed a style of Djing that gathers electronic dance music into a unique ensemble that drives a crowd crazy, keeps them wondering what's coming next, and leaves them begging for more. His turntablism focuses more on the blending of songs and transitions in between as well as the emotions evoked by simple lyrics. This new unique style of a mastermind DJ will take you by surprise, and leave you with a love for the music, the crowd, the energy, and the movement dance music has bequeathed upon the world.
