De vierentwintigste aflevering van het vierde seizoen van Cinepraatjes, de podcast van Cinemaatjes. Het is alweer de laatste van het seizoen, voor wat het waard is. JP kwam achter iets op Wikipedia. We hebben een nieuw Maatje op onze Patreon-pagina, waarop we ook een delete scene hebben gezet van onze vorige aflevering. Het is bijna zover dat we zowel ons 8-jarig bestaan als ook onze 400ste review te vieren hebben, maar weten nog niet hoe we dat precies moeten doen. We staan heel kort ook stil bij het overlijden van Michael Madsen. Uiteraard is onze eigen Marino er weer met een nieuw sonnet. William zag ‘Christiane F.’ op DVD en JP keek de nieuwe ’28 Years Later’ in de bioscoop. We trokken weer iets uit de VHS-kast getrokken, dit keer eentje van de bovenste, oftewel de porno, plank en ja hoor, hij was niet teruggespoeld. Dat checken we dus even. Omdat het de laatste aflevering van het seizoen is, besloten we nog een film uit de kast te trekken en wederom werd het er willekeurig weer eentje uit de VHS-kast nl. ‘Initiation’ UIT 1990. Voor de Special besloten we de obscure videoband die we uit de kast trokken te kijken en dat bleek zelfs een vierde deel te zijn uit een kerst-horrorfranchise. Uiteraard beantwoorden we ook weer vragen van luisteraars over o.a. filmtattoos, gender- en raceswapping, onze Top 3 films uit 2025 tot nu toe, de nederhorror ‘De Poel’ en Mortal Kombat met filmpersonages. Veel luisterplezier en tot volgend seizoen!

So, wherever you go wearing neck beads, you're sure to find someone in a remote area who unexpectedly says, 'Haribol!' And that's a good thing, because it will remind you that, 'Yes, I'm on a mission here, and I'm representing the Śrī Guru Parmparā. It's a point of high distinction, although we take it very humbly that we're able to display ourselves as Vaiṣṇavas, as the first stage of initiation. It's a process, not an event.' That's tapa, which means you turn away from the material world, realizing that this is not the purpose of my life—to try to settle here or to enjoy—but to serve.

(original poem)

After the day
I walked the risky thread
between extasy and madness,
I dreaded the night.

But she came gentler
than expected,
with soothing fire
and whispers of knowing.

Yes, dear, my unyielding twin,
you were right, saying:
In solitude you pass
a night of fire.
Right again,
as you often are.

I was afraid to drown into
a never-ending night of terrors.
but darkness lay with me
gentle and revealing,
unfolding mysteries of
pumas, callings, cosmic unions.

My awakened fire, still alive,
radiating softly,
in throat and plexus.
My beloved fire dragon,
tamed and dozing.

To my amazement,
even sleep soothed me
for precious hours,
The bridge back
to the world before,
completely sane,
but flat and grey,
were initiations by fire and puma
cannot be shared.

Yes, dear,
you saw it right:
The night came as a gift,
when I expected horrors.

The Night after Ecstasy and Madness

Carpathia - Initiation

The means for making advancement towards the spiritual world are mentioned in the 10th Canto of the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam (SB 10.2.30):

tvayy ambujākṣākhila-sattva-dhāmni 
samādhināveśita-cetasaike 
tvat-pāda-potena mahat-kṛtena
kurvanti govatsa-padaṁ bhavābdhim

Say the demigods, meditating on Lord Kṛṣṇa, praying to Him within the womb that one should have one-pointed attention on Kṛṣṇa (samādhināveśita-cetasaike)." And then they say, "We can achieve that by following Kṛṣṇa's and his representative's instructions: tvat-pāda-potena mahat-kṛtena." The Mahat, those who are great souls, Mahātmanas tu māṁ Pārtha (Kṛṣṇa says), "They are following My process," and that means we should respect the process that's passed down to us. That includes the vows we're taking, and always keep those as your life and soul. You'll be taking vows today, so keep those as your mainstay in life. The way that you are able to maintain your life airs is by following your vows: chanting at least 16 rounds, avoiding the four prohibited activities, and being diligent in chanting your Gāyatrī mantras and so forth.

And if we can do that, follow the simple process strictly, says Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākur. He quotes from śāstra in the Bhajana Rahasya: "Take the simple path. You don't have to invent anything else; nothing fancy needed. Just follow the simple path. But do it very strictly, and don't deviate from that.

"Pictureplane"(Travis Egedy), is a popular artist known for making his come up in the electronic music scene, DIY Venues, also popular for hanging around artists like "Grimes" and "Crystal Castles" in the early come up days of these artist, he is also the one who came up with the word "Witch House" which is a playful word on "House" music, though "Witch House" is now a popular music genre that is enjoyed by many.

"Crystal Castles" are actually one of the very first, if not the first electronic music duo to actually invent "Witch House" music, as you can hear dark beats and sorrow drawn out voices off of some of their early (demo songs/ Demo Album) dating back from "2007" and before that, which is crazy to think since during that time "Witch House" did not have a name for itself yet.
