Freddy Bastone, one of New York's finest to ever do it, returns to the forefront with fresh remixes of his underground gem "Black," featuring the unmistakable vocals of Brooklyn poet and songstress Ihsan. With her highly original and lyrical style, Ihsan captivates listeners, making a bold statement as she showcases her unique artistry alongside Bastone’s (and invited guest remixers) innovative sounds.

Released in two parts, this PT1 will be unleashed on November 15th 2024, exclusively on Bandcamp.

Track 1:

Rude Boy Rupert's Remix delivers an energetic fusion of bruk-style house grooves, infused with jazz undertones that ripple effortlessly over a rolling bassline and dynamic keys. His signature sound complements Ihsan’s uplifting vocals, particularly in the celebratory lines, "New Black Brain Is Born," adding a fresh, rhythmic depth to the track while enhancing its joyous expression.

Track 2:

Julian Garnett’s London Mix takes listeners on a journey through deep, punchy house vibes, expertly weaving subterranean soundscapes beneath tough beats. With skippy hi-hats and snares driving the rhythm, this remix features a subtly acidic bassline that adds an intriguing layer of depth. The result is a vibrant, energetic track that encapsulates the essence of London’s underground scene while maintaining a dancefloor-ready feel.

Track 3:

Julian’s Piano Remix unlocks a fresh vibe and energy, showcasing a more laid-back approach to the track. This groove shimmers with tight beats, complemented by tambourines and subtle percussion that create a captivating rhythm. Enhanced by clipped dubby piano notes and a muted trumpet refrain, this remix invites listeners into a relaxed yet engaging soundscape, perfect for winding down or setting a mellow mood.

Track 4:

Freddy Bastone’s original Soulful House Mix rounds off the package with a swinging Old Skool jazzy house vibe. This mix features a moody groove that seamlessly melts into captivating Latin jazz saxophone melodies, hard-hitting beats, and a rumbling bassline, all enhanced by Ihsan’s distinctive vocals.

With deep roots in house music, Bastone, a pioneering force known for his seminal track "The Real Life" as Corporation Of One, delivers a rich, soulful experience that pays homage to the genre's classic elements while inviting listeners to groove.

Revisiting the playlist from the Point Blank Radio 30th Birthday Party at 93 Feet East (London) in the first hour and re-living that hour session in the outside courtyard.

Paying Tribute to Freddy Bastone (NYC) in the second hour, playing only Freddy's productions and remixes from the 80s / 1990, plus his Original Soulful House mix of Black feat. Ihsan which came out in 2019 on Freddy's own label No Filtr Records. Today (15th Nov), JuJu Muzik label has released that mix again along with some new 2024 remixes including a Rude Boy Rupert Remix which has been getting a lot of props over the last month or so, including a BBC Radio 2 play by DJ Spoony on his "The Good Groove" show.

Stephen Slade, better known as Infinity Plus One, makes his debut with JuJu Muzik, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the label! A prominent figure in London’s underground music scene since the late '90s, Infinity Plus One has spent over two decades creating music that’s deep, gritty, and meaningful.

Barry Joseph joined the JuJu Muzik clan after having a wee break from music production, but was immediately excited to be a part of this project. The opportunity came around off the back of working on the original release with Freddy and Julian in 2019, when he did the original masters.

Joseph has been obsessed with all things Electro and House since 82. He had the bug from a young age. Never really having the money in the 80s, he had various friends with 808s, Junos and 101s etc., you know the drill! Every opportunity at after parties, he would jam while people were oblivious. While living in France in 2000 he discovered the skills to build computers and started to build up a studio. On returning to Scotland he decided to develop this further through a spell in education at Fife College of Sound Production resulting in the set up of his own mastering house, 'Round Room Mastering'. He has mastered tracks for Thomas Barnett, Santonio Echols and Unique 3 to name a few.

Barry, ultimately is a clubber and a dancer. He grew up attending Heaven, Spectrum and Hacienda. The Sub Club in Glasgow was his home. At present, he is working on an ambient album with aspirations to work in the Film and TV industries, so this project has been a break from the norm.

With his mix of Black, the main objective was to make a Detroit warehouse style track focusing on Bass, Beats and Piano, with enveloping soundscapes and moods. When Julian approached him about getting involved, he said he needed money for a new dishwasher, so obviously said yes! Welcome onboard, Barry.
