Nearly 2 years ago to the day, we introduced a then aspiring, young, experimental electronic artist, finding his path way through the scene and all of its pitfalls and high notes. That was his first ever guest mix, so enthralled we were by it, and him, that we kept a close on his progress until today. Now a fully fledged producer, remixer and more we are delighted to welcome the unique NorB, back behind our legendary turntables. Make some noise!!

Hailing from Hungary, Norbi Szakács (aka NorB) grew up listening to trance, before discovering progressive and melodic house, where his primary focus sits today. 

Although still fairly early into his journey as a producer, NorB already lays claim to an enviable discography. In collaboration with Canadian producer and vocalist juSt b, NorB first emerged in 2022 with ‘Different Places', a 3-track showcase via John Digweed's Bedrock Records, no less. 

Immediately noted for his timeless approach, the track would go on to feature on John's ‘Live in London' and ‘Quattro III' collections, while the B-side ‘Close Your Eyes', featured on the label's year end retrospective showcase.

Balance Music would then serve as home for the duo's lone 2023 production ‘At This Moment', a track which Henry Saiz would remodel for his ‘Balance 032' collection. In 2023, NorB launched the monthly Static Fields mix show, which is now broadcast on four radio stations around the world. While rooted in progressive sounds, the show also prominently features hypnotic and deep techno, along with influences from various other styles.

Moving forward, 2024 found NorB continuing his creative partnership with juSt b, with the duo signing productions to ICONYC, Stellar Fountain and Stripped Digital, the latter of which rounded out the year in impressive fashion across three well-received tracks. 

At the beginning of this year, NorB added South American super-label Sound Avenue to his resume with a track-track solo showcase, Dharma, alongside remixes from Andres Moris, Haen, and Drekaan. 

In today's mix, Norbi opens up our mind with a collection of superb deep tech, ambient and experimental techno, fused together with that touch of class found in all of his DJ sets.. ENJOY!

The Progcast - Episode 277 - NorB

Hello everyone and welcome! This is our weekly podcast, where every week we take you around Planet Progressive in search of the most exclusive DJ sets we can find. Come with us and lets see where we have landed.. 

In the mix this week from the US of A, a popular figure of the online scene, making his way slowly but steadily through the ranks. He's already supplied mixes for similar online platforms, but now it's the BIG one. Make some noise for Paul Andreś!

Paul Andrés, originally from Quito, Ecuador, moved to the US when he was 8 years old. His musical taste was shaped by his family's eclectic CD collection, ranging from Aphex Twin to Frank Zappa, Dr. Dre to Mozart. 

A pivotal moment came when he discovered Global Underground CDs at Tower Records NYC, inspired by a Danny Tenaglia set. Influences  like Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed, Anthony Pappa, Luke Brancaccio and Jimmy Van M opened his mind to electronic music. 

After a few years immersed in clubbing, Paul started mixing in 1998 and after upgrading to CDJs he created “Mixing Things Up” a series of mixes which were named as a nod to John Digweed’s radio show on Kiss100 in the UK. 

After years as a bedroom DJ, just creating mixes for himself, Paul’s talent was recognised in late 2023 when he was invited to play live on MixPub Radio. Since then Argentina's Golden Wings Radio and the FB curated 21CPH have taken notice and he has supplied mixes for them.

From the United States to Spain via the UK, it is a testament to Paul’s passion for the scene that he finds himself where he is today. His desire to make an input on the scene with his energetic mixing and fine track selections... enjoy!

With a career spanning nearly three decades, Mark Fazzini has remained a committed force in underground electronic music. Based in Glasgow, his sound blends dark progressive house and warm, rolling techno, shaped by early influences like Sasha, John Digweed, and the classic progressive era.

Under both his own name and the alias Prism, Mark has released on labels such as the seminal Limbo Records and many others, contributing to the evolution of the UK’s progressive and techno scenes. Recent production work includes remixes for Henry Saiz and a series of upcoming original releases on Babiczstyle and additional labels. His music is available on Beatport, iTunes, and Bandcamp,
showcasing a sound that’s as timeless as it is forward-thinking.

As a DJ, he’s built a reputation for deep, immersive sets and has shared the booth with legends — including direct support for both Sasha and John Digweed. Mark also heads up Dojo, a Glasgow-based house and techno night that’s been running — on and off — for over nine years. Delighted to welcome him back for another exclusive DJ Mix, enjoy.

Monty Eden, from Mexico City, has moved between many musical environments. Having the guitar as his main instrument, he has explored different genres going from Blues and Progressive Rock to nightclub underground music. 

Now completely dedicated to electronic music, he has managed to produce and sign original tracks on wonderful world-class labels such as Stellar Fountain, The Purr and The Rynth.

Starting on the Mexican scene since 2018, Monty has performed in big cities such as Mexico City, Querétaro, Playa del Carmen and Puebla. Likewise, he has shared the booth with DJs from the Mexican scene such as Hot Tuneik and played on events for international headliners like Kamilo Sanclemente and Rick Pier O'neil.

His original tracks and DJ mixes aim to achieve a balanced fusion between electronic and analog-organic sounds, incorporating subtle elements of instruments and vocals for unique “ear candy”. With this, Monty gets to attract minds that dare to explore the energetic, progressive and groovy concept of his music. Enjoy the mix!

A quick trip over the Irish Sea finds us back in the UK, with an all female DJ Duo famed for their sets down on the South Coast . Regulars in all the scenes in all the right clubs, make some noise for Recalibration!!

Recalibration are Elizabeth Davies & Tor Lloyd, who have been DJing together on the South Coast of the UK for over 5 years. The pair have had guest slots at Berlin Brighton, Brighton Music Conference, UK Pride Events, festivals across the UK such as Voodoo, We are Love; & last year they also made their debut at an exclusive festival in Malaga, Spain. 

Together they have graced the airwaves of the south coast on radio stations such as 1BTN, Trickstar Radio and all the usual suspects in Brighton.  Most recently Recalibration have provided two exclusive mixes for Frisky.fm, Artist of the Week & the X-Chrome series with nearly 10,000 plays.

We return to the fabled lands of Argentina, with a DJ now residing in Mexico. It's here where our guest has found the spotlight with his skills and crowd raising abilities. Please make some noise, for CASNIK! 

Casnik (Nicolás Castillo) is an Argentine DJ/ Producer, originally from City Bell, La Plata. Since he was a child he felt music in a special way. Nicolas began to experience everything he felt inside through movement, like Michael Jackson, taking dance classes and going through various musical genres to learn the essence of each one and understand the different states of mind.

During 2019, Casnik shared the booth at events with top-level national artists such as Elio Riso, Jay de Lys, Bodeler, Matias Sundblad, LeFrak, among others. He has also had a leading role in booths in other cities such as San Pedro, Mercedes, Azul, Tandil, Olavarria, La Plata, Mar del Plata, Pinamar and Monte Hermoso.

In 2020 is where he began to connect with new genres such as Progressive House and Melodic House.

In 2021 Nicolas moved to Tulum, where he began to open new horizons and continue to fulfill his goals, playing in clubs in Playa del Carmen, Holbox and Tulum. It was here he had the pleasure of being part of the line up with international DJs such as the Pan Pot duo, Roy Rosenfeld, Marcel Dettman, Armen Miran, Sam Sure, Gux Gimenez, Adi Dassler among others.

In 2023, he focused on his development in the world of music production with releases in Mango Alley, Balkan Connection, Sunexplosion, 3rd Avenue among others, something he continues to be involved in to this day!

We are back in the mix with a crowd favourite this week, and it's an absolute pleasure to have her back. Her style and track selection make it an easy choice for DJ mixes, never failing to produce a set that rocks every time, please make some noise for Daria Fomina!

Daria Fomina was born near Moscow. She graduated from music school as a teenager in piano class and soon after she found her musical inspiration in electronic music. The people who shaped her musical taste in this new found passion were DJs and bands such as Robert Miles, Radiohead, Enigma, Massive Attack, Prodigy, André Tanneberger, Tiësto, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, Sasha, Deep Dish, Pole Folder, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sébastien Léger, Guy J and others. 

In the beginning of her career Daria played on several radio stations in different geographical locations and has since hosted several exclusive podcasts. At the moment, Daria is a resident of Frisky Radio (US), hosting a two-hour podcast where she invites unique, talented DJs and music producers on her show Oxygen,  and on DI.FM Progressive Channel (US), Subcode Radio (UK) and DNA Radio FM (AR) where she hosts her one-hour show Purple Sky. Daria has also played at Amsterdam Dance Events, Burning Man Project, Hungary and other dance venues in Moscow and Russian cities. 

On April 21, 2021, her first remix on  DROID9 was released, and it was quite successful. It got into the ratings of Release Promo's - Hype Chart Essentials Week 16 on Beatport, and also stayed in the top 100 Progressive House Releases for an extended period.
 
She was the curator of theLIA Series project, which Amber Long founded in December 2021. Daria was tasked with inviting female DJs and organising podcasts for female musical artists from all over the world to participate in the project, which involved over 30 women at its peak.

From April 2024 to the present, Daria has been a resident at the Moscow City Space Bar & Restaurant, which is located on the 34th floor in Swissotel Krasnye Holmy . You can enjoy a magnificent view of the center of Moscow and its attractions to the beautiful melodies of organic and progressive house, which she plays every week.

Daria also occasionally participates as a guest DJ on some online radio stations where she is often a guest in many projects of other musicians and DJs from all over the world.

Her sounds in her DJ mixes are filled with deep and melodic progressive house combined with melodic techno, tech house, deep house, organic house and adding different shades of electronic music.
