Goddess Brigit meditation, welcoming Imolc

This track is what I'm seeing as my first official track that I've created. I wrote the lyrics and melodies, I played all the parts on the cello and things I had in my apartment, and I edited and revised. It's the start of a on-going, year long project that I'm working on; a song for each pagan sabbat (the Wheel of the Year) and my personal relationship with each sabbat.

This song is based on the sabbat of Imbolc. A celebration for the Celtic goddess Brigid; goddess of fire, healing, poetry, and protection. Imbolc is both a time to bring back the hope of light to come in the darkness of Winter as the days start to grow longer again. But also, for me, healing your past hurts and standing up again after you've been burnt and you're life fallen apart.

I'm not really sure what to call this genre, a friend suggested "mystical folk" so I just chose the closest option to that.

A treasury of the many folk traditions of February, from the Celtic Imbolc, to Catholic Candlemas.

February may often feel like a dreary month of liminal nothingness, but it has a rich multitude of historical customs that have snuck into our daily lives in subliminal ways. As the snowdrops begin peeping out from the mud, light a candle in good company, and say goodbye to the last of the dark months.

“The Flame of Kildare” is a song dedicated to Brigid — poet, healer, blacksmith, and keeper of the sacred fire. She embodies feminine light across centuries, bridging Celtic spirituality and Christian reverence.

The title is translated into Irish Gaelic as "Lasair Chill Dara", meaning “The Flame of Kildare” — a sacred site where women tended Brigid’s flame for generations.

The song blends English and Irish Gaelic.

The demos are of various quality, from the early 90's Gregorian to the present day... 
PLUS here I share audio of 'Project Freeman' presentations and interviews (these are more like podcasts, but some also include songs) 

The songs start off as rough demos in various playlists here, and are then added to the 'Project Freeman Music Official Releases' playlist once they are finished, recorded and released to the major music platforms. (You can get your own copies of these via my Bandcamp link below, with all proceeds going to support my work and causes).
Therefore the quality of the demos here varies enormously, from old 1990s amateur recordings on cassette tape, to amateur home studio demos, to raw acoustic demos on the road in the camper van, to overdubbed tracks on the move, to more polished finished works etc etc

I have over 200 songs at various stages of production. My aim is to gradually publish my complete catalogue online, so the main thing here is to 'hear how the song goes' not to be fussy about the quality of recordings or performances.
Also, 'Tracks' have not been shared here in any particular order, so more recent Tracks could actually be much older, poorer quality demos and it's not possible to change the order of the Tracks once they have been uploaded, so please bare all this in mind when listening to 'Tracks'. It's probably best to choose a 'Playlist' and go from there :)

I’m Yariksha, a singer and poet from Montréal, Canada, crafting songs that blend ritual, emotion, and sonic exploration. My lyrics are entirely my own creations, and many are deeply autobiographical — born from lived experience, transformation, and love.

I compose using a blend of intuition, AI collaboration, and digital tools, shaping each piece with care, emotion, and intention. My music spans folk ballads, ambient textures, intimate jazz, cathartic rock, and more — always guided by the story I want to tell.
