Grief: it can be incredibly lonely. No one understands you. How do you cope, get through it, accept life's forward momentum, prevent yourself from being stuck in a gaze that is directed backwards (or rather, inwards to memories of what's no longer)? How do you make sense of your predicament, ready yourself from the endless train of sorrow awaiting you as you tread through life? Saying goodbye to someone you've known, loved, walked alongside for 14 years is hard; flash forward, you're 60, and you're about to say goodbye to someone you've known your whole life - how do you do it? How do you not sink below, become submerged by the weight of pain, loss, sadness?

On October 3, 2024, I lost a great friend, a family member, a companion who was there - seemingly all the time - as I navigated the (at times confusing) walk between childhood and adulthood.

The last few years have seen us become somewhat distant (he lived with my parents, I lived away from them), however, there was a strange feeling of calm which came with remembering that he was here; that he was still living, breathing somewhere not so far away; that he was able to be cuddled, snuggled, patted along the head; that my fingers could caress those soft, brown ears; that as I'd enter home, swing open those doors, I'd receive the warmest of greetings ("Where's my good boy!?"); before you know it, he'd be under me, half his body between my legs, his tail waging, left and right. Each time this happened, I'd remember: he hasn't gone anywhere. I'd remember: my love for him has never faded. 

Reflecting on it, saying goodbye to Oscar - the dread of seeing him leave the house for the last time; to watch him exchange his last glance at our home before the boot of the car closed in front of him; to wonder what's going on inside the head of his fluffy, confused, tail-wagging friend as the car leaves with him inside of it, etc. - was an experience that made me feel like a child. My parents became those big, all-knowing adults which I remembered from back when I was much younger. I looked to them to get me through this predicament, to explain what's happening, console me through this heavy weight of grief (do they have the answers? can they fix me?). 

Oddly, as much as this grief of farewelling a loved one brought my family pain, it also brought us all together: us, as a collective unit; connected by a feeling, a need to cling together, to remain strong, to soldier ahead; arms interlocked, like we'd never been separated by time or physical distance; like we were one; a family; a family that needed to be there for Oscar as he spent his last moments, keeping him calm, comfortable and at peace. 

To remember Oscar - the beautiful, loving mate of mine - here's a song I made for him. 

To Oscar: thank you for the memories.  I hope you're up there running around with all the other dogs who are missed by loved ones. I'll never forget you, nor will your family.

International Dj, producer and remixer Jonathan Douglas Braverman, known as Ladies On Mars, has been on a musical journey since the conception of 2006 of his successful Minimal Techno music project. The artist born in Buenos Aires has accumulated numerous achievements, although it was his 2007 hit "We Are Not Lesvicon", published on Xela Digital, which really impelled Ladies On Mars to be in the eye of the storm, reaching within the TOP 40 of Beatport's Minimal. Another of his great achievements was in 2009 when he won the Beatport contest for remixing the song "Peace" by the group Depeche Mode, his remix became the best-selling band in Beatport for several years.

Since then, the native of Argentina has continued to evolve, mutating its sound, perfecting from the Minimal Techno of its beginnings to the Tech-House, current Funky House. Remixing artists like Aka Aka and Home Video. Editing his music on labels such as Prison Entertainment, Emi Music or his own label: Boom Zwapp Records.

In addition to having an impressive subsequent catalog of solo and collaborative productions, Ladies On Mars has also offered remixes for numerous top-level musicians, including: AKA AKA, Daniele Petronelli, Min & Mal, Home Video, etc ...

Outside of the studio, Jonathan is a touring DJ who is in great demand and his daily agenda is fuller. Taking their Marsian sound and a unique mix of spatial sounds with a lot of groove mixed with Funk, House and Tech-House directly to the dance floor in some of the best clubs, festivals and events in the world in countries, including: Germany, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.
