Inherit The Earth: The Known Lands [Cover]

Anti-Social explores how digital social networks are distorting and undermining our sense of reality. People are evaluating the worth of their lives based on what they perceive online, which is often fictional. If someone dislikes an aspect of themselves, they may change it or pretend to be someone else, risking the loss of their true identity in search of approval from people who don't really know them. This phenomenon is also diminishing our ability to connect with others authentically, leading to significant distortions in human experiences and negatively impacting mental health. True connection occurs face-to-face and shoulder-to-shoulder; any other substitute falls short.

Paper Thin Lies examines the stages of an unhealthy relationship and the aftermath when it ends. It explores how individuals often resort to illusions to hide their issues, usually to protect their image and maintain their social standing. In contrast, authentic relationships acknowledge and accept people as they are, recognizing their inherent worth.

2024 has been a year of profound grief for my wife and me. We lost two babies during the second trimester this year. Our first son, Pax Floyd, was due on my mother's birthday. "Pax" is Latin for "peace," and "Floyd" is my mother’s maiden name, who also passed away this year. Our second son, Ezra Joseph, was due on my birthday, which is why he has the middle name Joseph. 

Grief has no timeline and no clear path, but music has been a significant source of comfort for me. The name Ezra means "God helps," which combined with Pax’s name inspired the title of the song. "Pax et Auxilium" is Latin for "peace and help."

TIME DISCUSSES WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU AREN'T IN CONTROL. TIME PASSES WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. YOU CAN'T CHANGE DARK EVENTS FROM THE PAST, YOU CAN'T SAVE PEOPLE FROM PAIN, AND YOU ALSO CAN'T PREDICT THE FUTURE. YOU ARE STUCK IN THE PRESENT. 

THE CONCEPT ALSO CONNECTS TO THE SCIENTIFIC IDEA OF STRING THEORY, ALLUDING TO THE NOTION OF WALKING A WIRE (STRING) IN ORDER TO INFLUENCE CHANGE. ULTIMATELY, WE CANNOT ALTER OUR PAST; WE CAN ONLY IMPACT OUR PRESENT. USING OUR PAST AS A GUIDE FOR OUR ACTIONS IS ALL WE CAN DO. THIS IS WHERE TRUST BECOMES ESSENTIAL.

Time

Wanderer explores the feeling of defeat. Everyone, in some way, has a false sense of control. When our actions fall short and this sense of control shatters, where does that leave us? Do we lean into our beliefs or push them away? Do we choose to grow, or do we fade? This state of being is filled with misery and burnout. In any part of our lives, if we turn away from God and what is good and true, we become wanderers.
